[It is likely very early in the morning since Hachiken rises pretty early. There is no sense in delaying the inevitable.]

It seems like our Captain has disappeared. We're really too small as a crew to keep sailing on our own. I don't think we have the skills between us.

I think I need to find a new crew.

All I can really do is cook. I mean, that's my job on the Sinewave. I can look after farm animals but that's not the most useful of skills at sea.

I can learn whatever skills you need me to, I just have spent much of my time in the galley here.

"Motochika Chōsokabe, the great Sea Devil of the West and captain of the Katabami" would have the been the proper introduction if Ragna weren't such an ass. It's as he said, though. We have some animals on board who could use some looking after, as well as chores that need doing, and you'll find no captain more skilled as myself if there's anything you wish to learn.

What kinds of animals do you have?

At the moment we have a parrot, a turkey and, er, well, I'm sure there's a proper word for what Yo-chan is, but I'm afraid I've yet to learn it.

[It's "armadillo." Or, rather "armadillo monster with a nasty bone club on his tail."]

The turkey I know how to take care of, so the parrot can't be too dissimilar. I'm afraid I don't know what Yo-chan is either without looking at him.

I'm not sure those of us who have seen him know what he is, either, but you're more than welcome to have a look. He mostly needs some entertainment to keep him occupied, dirt to dig in, and some bugs and worms to fill his fat little belly and he's happy as a clam.

Not at all! Just be mindful of your shins if he starts swinging that tail of his, that's all.

[He leaves off the "they might get broken otherwise" part.]

I'm used to dodging animals, don't worry! Sometimes horses bite and kick.

Aye, that I well know. His bite isn't quite so bad as a horse's, but he can put as much force behind that tail as a horse can behind a kick. He's but a small thing now, but he may well get to be horse-sized if I raise him up right.
