Uh... hello?

[A somewhat uncertain greeting from what seems like a young boy comes from the journal, though it shouldn't be a surprise at this point.]

That old ha─ I mean, kitchen lady said I could ask this book something... dunno if it'll work, since I can't use Ars Magus and stuff, but I guess it's worth a shot.

[Ragna still sounds pretty skeptical, and he'd lie if he said he trusts that Kodachi person, but he's growing pretty desperate. His search for his little siblings have brought no results so far, and even as a child, he's not a patient person.]

I'm looking for my little brother and sister, Jin and Saya. They both have golden hair and green eyes... and are probably crying now. Especially Jin. [He's always been a crybaby, that one.] So if you see them, let me know and tell them that brother... that Ragna will come pick them up soon, okay?

I'm sorry, Ragna, I haven't seen your brother or your sister on the ship I'm in. I'll look again and keep an eye around for them!

[Elsa knows well what's like to worry about little siblings after all.]

[Ragna is genuinely surprised when he gets a response─ he wasn't getting his hopes up when talking to a supposedly magical book─ and feels even more relieved when it's a voice of another kid. He finds it much easier to trust somebody whom he doesn't suspect of being the mastermind behind all of this.]

Thanks. This place is pretty damn big, so I can use any help I can get.

[Which he'd probably not be so eager to accept if it wasn't about his little siblings, but his stubbornness and personal opinions always take a backseat where Jin and Saya are concerned.]

It is! There are a lot of ships and I've been told there are a lot of islands, I'm sure they must be in one of them. Don't worry, we will find them!

Maybe they also have one of those books and will hear this too.

[Don't lose hope, Ragna. Elsa will do her best to help finding them, or they may be found on their own if they answer this!]

[Not giving up is one of the things Ragna does best, especially if it's for the sake of his siblings.]

Yeah, I'm sure. I just don't want them to be alone for too long.

[Neither of the kids would ever willingly leave his side, and while there were times when Ragna found that annoying, he'd give everything to have Jin and Saya back with him right now.]

I know, I feel the same way for my little sister. I wish I had some magic or something that could help us find them more quickly.

Doubt there's anyone who could do that...

[Not that Ragna knows anything about magic, save for the fact there are very few people who can use it. What are the odds of finding someone with such knowledge? Slim, he figures.]

What does your sister look like? I'll keep an eye out for her, too.

[If she's helping him, it only seems fair to return the favor, right?]

Maybe there is! There's a kid who can stretch and I can make ice and snow. Maybe someone has some magic power to find someone!

[Elsa had been told that Anna wasn't there, and while she had questioned it at first she had eventually accepted it. However, what if it's not true? Someone keeping an eye out for her wouldn't hurt, right?]

Really? Thank you, Ragna! Her name's Anna! She's five years old and has blue eyes and light brown hair. She always wears her hair in two short pigtails too.

─Seriously? ... Wow.

[That's all he can say to this. He wouldn't be surprised to hear about such things in Sister's stories, but he's never actually met anyone with powers like that. The boy frowns a little, feeling pretty helpless─ other kids have abilities that could be of use here, but he... he can't even use Ars Magus, something most people back home are able to do.

It'll bother him for a while, but he's not about to voice his thoughts.]

Anna, huh? Gotcha, I'll keep that in mind.

What's your name, by the way?

[Knowing that would be helpful if he was to find her sister at some point.]

Yeah, seriously! I would show you if you were here, but I don't think that's possible since you're in another ship.

[And, oops, seems she forgot her manners.]

Ah, my name's Elsa! Princess of Arendelle! Anna is a princess too, so if you find her and she's crying a lot tell her that the Queen's right hand can't be seen crying! That may help.

[At least in making her stop crying.]

Maybe some other time.

[If they're still here and somewhere close to each other... though as much as Ragna would like to see that, he'd rather not stay here too long. Sister will not be pleased with his absence.]

And you guys are princesses on top of that? Damn, never thought I'd meet any in real life! [As far as he knows, that kind of stuff only exists in fairy tales.] No worries, I can handle it. Jin cries like, all the time.

Another kid on this ship was surprised to meet an actual princess. Are princesses rare in your country or do they just not meet their people?

[She giggles a bit.]

Is Jin the youngest one?

I don't think we have any? I mean, I've heard of noble families, but not princesses... Those are only in fairy tails, for all I know.

[There again, this whole waking up on a pirate ship in the middle of an ocean thing is something he'd classify as a bedtime story as well, had someone told him about him a few days ago.]

You'd think so, but no, actually. Saya's younger than him, though you couldn't tell by looking at them.

[They're both so tiny, and still very much kids; Ragna would expect Jin to finally start growing up soon, but so far, no such luck.]

If you have noble families, but not princesses or royalty, then who gives the noble families their titles?

[Because as far as she knows it's the king or the queen the one who acknowledges those and may even revoke them or decide to which heir they are passed.]

You must be very strong and a great big brother then, it sounds as if he depends a lot on you.

[Which she doesn't see as something negative, as a big sister she takes pride in Anna depending on her, not because she wants her sister to always depend on her but because it means that she's trusted to protect and take good care of Anna. And there's nothing in the world she wants more than protect and take care of Anna so she has a life full of joy and fun.]

That's...

[Not something he's ever thought about. The fact nobles exist is enough for him─ after all, he's never considered the possibility of meeting those. There's no point in dwelling on things that might never occur, right?]

Hell if I know, I've never been into that kinda stuff. Librarium, I guess?

[That's all he can tell her on the subject.

Hearing the compliment, Ragna feels both surprised and a little embarrassed, but he can't really deny that; both his little siblings really do look up to him a lot, so it's only natural he has to be strong for them, or at least that's how he sees it.]

Well, I am their big brother. It's just kinda what I do, right? I will always protect them, no matter what.

[True, sometimes he wishes Jin grew up already and stopped depending on him so much, but... when he sees his smiling face, he can't really be angry with him.]

Your country is weird, I would have never thought a library had power to grant titles and nobility. In my country it's the king or the queen who does that.

[She laughs at his next response, not mockingly but in understanding. It's nice to see that she's not the only one who thinks that way.]

I understand! I do the same with Anna. When we're old I will have to take care of the kingdom too, but I'll always take care and protect her. Even if sometimes she's annoying and doesn't let me sleep, I can't be angry with her when I see her smile.

It makes me feel especial, you know? I mean, even if I wasn't a princess, as long as I've Anna, I'll be especial. Because I'm her only older sister.

I'm sorry, but I haven't heard from people with those names. At least that I might be aware of anyway.

[He was highly skeptical of getting help via journal, given how he's talking to people he can't even see, but this one seems nice enough. Guess getting help from her won't be too bad.]

I understand and it must be tough that you are alone, but I can understand that feeling as I'm alone too.

Wha? Nah, that's not a problem. I can handle myself just fine on my own!

[You know those kids who want to look strong and be treated like adults? Yeah, Ragna's one of them. Somewhat justified, considering he has two little siblings to look after.]

I'm more worried about them.

I see. I can understand. If I find them I'll help them get to you. You have my word.

[Ragna jumps, hearing the voice coming not where he expected it from, and quickly closes the book, turning around and looking for the source. God, that was creepy. How is he supposed to believe he's not being held hostage when he's constantly under surveillance?]

N-No, I wasn't.

[Note to self: update "kitchen lady" to "stalker lady".]

[Kodachi dangled down from the ceiling like a spider before dropping and landing soundlessly on her feet.]

[Ragna lets out a startled squeak the second Kodachi suddenly appears in front of him, stumbling and falling backwards.]

W-Why the hell were you up there?!

[The boy points accusingly at her, looking not unlike he's seen a ghost of some sort.]

I was keeping an eye on things.

[What? Gymnasts found it easier to be up high sometimes. Kodachi was a martial artist and a gymnast, and attacks were easier from a vantage point. Not that she planned to attack children. It was just the idea that if there were more kidnapped people, the kidnapper might be nearby...]

[Ragna doesn't know about that; hell, the way he is now, he doesn't even know anything about fighting or martial arts. He is, however, aware of how weird and suspicious it is of people to do... whatever the hell Kodachi was doing there.]

[She didn't expect him to understand.]

Don't you find it strange that several children are suddenly appearing in this ship? There's something going on, and I don't like it!

Well, duh. Tell me something I don't know!

["Something is going on." No shit, like he didn't figure that part out himself the moment he woke up on a boat instead of his bed.]

[He has no other explanation for what she was doing up there, so he's gonna assume that's what it was.

Divu─ dammit, she's doing that thing with complicated words. Given the context, it's probably something like "share", right? Yeah, sounds like it.]

Think I'd still be sitting here if I did? Actually, even if I knew something, I wouldn't tell you anyway, stalker lady.

[Kodachi had just about had it with the small Ragna, and she sighed loudly and pinched the bridge of her nose.]

I wasn't stalking you! I don't stalk people. Especially not little boys as rude as you are.

[It was just a little white lie, okay.]

You just so happened to be in my line of sight, and I caught you before you were about to say something you shouldn't.

[Her aura burned. You'd better treat cautiously, Ragna.]

[That would imply you expect him to have his self-preservation instincts intact. Which, unfortunately for him, is not the case.]

If you ask me, you're hella rude yourself...

[Ragna mutters under his breath as he gets back to his feet. Still, he remembers how she can get when angry... perhaps he shouldn't overdo it.]

I wasn't doing anything like that. I just asked this... journal-thingy about my siblings, like you told me too.

What...Ragna? Is that you? *He's so tiny! And blond.*

Uh... Yeah? [He just said as much, didn't he?] What about it?
