You guys know this place isn't making the best first impression on me, right?

[She certainly hopes that the journal works the way it's supposed to. Otherwise, she's going to be feeling rather silly.] Taking me from my friends in New York just so I can hunt for that stone doesn't exactly sound like a good deal.

And I'm really not a fan of pirates.

[Mona sighs.]

Oh. Yeah. I don't know if mutants are a thing in your version of New York, but they are in mine.

My friends that live in the sewer are mutants, and I'm one too.

Except I was born human.

Man, apparently mutants living in sewers is pretty freaking common, then. Anyway, most of the mutants I know of started out as humans. My brothers and I were turtles, though. ...Are turtles.

Do the names Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello mean anything to you?

Yeah...that's us. I'm Raphael. How do you know our names?

Who doesn't know about them? The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are heroes back in New York.

Raphael was the first one I ever got to meet in person.

.....Heroes?

[Barks out a laugh.]

Yeah, okay. Sure. I mean, I guess we are, kind of, but it's not like anyone knows we're saving their butts all the time. That's what happens when you have to stay hidden, right?

And I'm pretty sure I've never met you, sister.

Believe me, pal. People back in New York know all about the Ninja Turtles. People dressing up as them in costume parties... Even I'm a big fan of what they... I mean, what you guys do.

So I'm guessing the name 'Mona Lisa' doesn't mean anything to you?

Costume parties? You're kidding me, right? We've only got one stalker fanboy who used to dress up like a turtle and he's a little mutated right now, so I know you don't mean him.

Just, you know, that's a pretty stand-out kind of name.

Mikey came up with it. Some random word he [read: we] says back home a lot. But he's kind of in charge of naming things, so whatever.

How'd he end up with that kind of responsibility?

I don't know if he'd call it a responsibility, he kind of took it on himself to do that. Seriously, dude gets really insulted if you name something without him!

Don't name something with involving Mikey... Got it.
