[The message comes at night, as he's wandering on the deck. He's not up for guard duty tonight, but he still can't sleep, even if now that island is at a good distance away from them, the effects it had on him haven't vanished. He's still too close to his boiling point, or maybe he's already boiling and it's just a matter of time before he explodes in a ball of fire, anger and hate. Sleeping isn't an option in this state and he knows it better than anyone else. While asleep he may not be able to control his Cosmo, or he may enter into a nightmare that finally tips him over the edge. He may fall into sleep deep enough that he won't be able to know where he is when he wakes up, if someone comes to wake him up he may attack them driven by instinct and the thirst for destruction and release. He may attack Ace if his game of musical beds leads him to his bed, and while he doubts it would cause lasting damage, he would prefer to not do that.

So he doesn't even try to sleep, instead he wanders around the ship and enjoys the silence of the night. Not everyone is asleep yet, but it's calm enough that it could seem so. Eventually, he hits the journals after finding something floating in the water and that he picks up.]

Anyone else thinks that sleep is overrated tonight?

[There's a short pause.]

Right, I almost forgot, we're in Easter period. If anyone wonders why there are eggs in places there shouldn't be or weren't before, it seems this place wants to celebrate that with us.

I found a golden egg floating besides the ship just now, or an egg painted with a gold like color at least. If memory serves well those things should be made of chocolate or actual hard boiled egg-

[There's a cracking sound as the egg's shell starts to break, causing Ikki to stop talking. A few seconds later the chirps of a little chick are heard.]

Or a fucking fluffy chick apparently. What the hell?

[That's definitively not what he expected.]

No idea, ask them. Though I'm not sure who does it and who doesn't do it on the ship. Not everyone sees the need to showering or bathing daily either.

[He chuckles a bit.]

Imagine if the floor suddenly decided to lean towards one side, without warning and as you remained still on it. Would you like that?

Probably not, but that's never happened, so maybe!

[He does seem to like a lot of dangerous things, it's hard to say if he would like a moving floor.]

IF you knew nothing else of the world, if you had just been born hours ago at most. Do you really think you would like to suddenly feel that you may fall and crash?

No, but when you're just born that's pretty much how you feel the whole time.

True but not as prominently. The chick is little, it will get used to it, give it time and pay attention for chirps. If they are too insistent or alarmed something is wrong. If they are more melodic then it's just fine.

Okay. Chicks aside, is everything well?

Yeah, pretty good. I got to go to the beach, that was really fun and Xifer took me flying! He knows all kinds of great tricks.

[Great because they seem dangerous.]

And I talked to Marco and he taught me something to surprise Xifer with.

He does, indeed. I think he has a lot of experience flying and playing around.

[If Marco was in control it couldn't be too dangerous, or at least not anything that he wouldn't be able to fix. As far as he knows if there's one place anyone in the crew would be the most protected in, that was besides Marco. The man who wanted to shield everyone from everyone and take everything to himself.]

Not bad, so you want to learn how to talk with him?

It was really fun. Xifer is really fast!

[He hums a bit.]

Yeah, I do. I didn't know I could talk to him before because he's a phoenix and I thought he was just making bird noises.

I'm a phoenix too, though maybe you forgot. So are you going to ask Marco to teach you more? It's not going to be easy.

He said I can ask Xifer if I know what to ask. I just have to tell him what words I want to know.

[He looks like he's thinking.]

I know it's not easy...but I learned to talk in the first place right?

[And that was pretty hard.]

I didn't say that it was impossible, just that it's going to take you probably twice as much work as learning to talk did. Learning other languages is always more complicated once you can speak one fluently.

You think so? Hmmm...I should have been listening to him more, I didn't know he was talking. Well not in a way I could figure out. Now I know.

[It's not like anyone walked him through talking before, they just thought he was quiet.]

When people speak another language that you don't know, it always sounds like mostly incoherent noises you can't make head or tails from. With Xifer you had the added problem that you didn't consider that birds would have their own language.

[Rxoas nods, although Ikki can't really see him. The bird on his head chirps though.]

I didn't think of that. People might have thought I was weird if I did then, but now I know it doesn't seem so weird.

[He hears that chirp and knows that Roxas has nodded again, hopefully at least it wasn't too sudden or too deep of a nod.]

You mean that they would have thought you were weird if you went around speaking in bird language?

Well yeah, or if I said the bird was talking to me, I think Lea would have given me a weird look!

Maybe in your world, here everyone knows that Xifer can talk.

[Literally, actually.]

Even if only a few understand him. It's possible Lea would have given you a weird look, though, that's true.

Oh, really? Hmmm...I guess I didn't know that.

[To be fair, Roxas didn't ask the question so he can't get mad if he didn't know.]

He does that sometimes, he can be pretty weird.

You mean Lea giving you a weird look?

Yeah, he does that sometimes. I think he does it mostly when I forget something, or if I get confused.

Shouldn't he be used to that by now? It's not as if you can help it, you already try hard enough to not forget or get confused.

Yeah I know. He's used to it probably. But sometimes I forget something he thinks I shouldn't forget. Then he looks at me weird.

Right.

[Ikki is of the opinion that Roxas should always remember everything, but he knows it's beyond the kid's control what comes to his mind and what doesn't. No matter how obvious or how many times it has been told, there's no magic way for Roxas to say "I will never forget this" and for it to work.]

Try to not take it too seriously. Everyone forgets things, even things we shouldn't forget, you are just a more extreme and frequent case. Hopefully you will get better, you already try a lot.
