Okay, so...uh, I'm giving this thing a try.

I don't write so good, but somebody told me that I could just talk into this book and the book would take care of the rest. I really hope that was true, and this isn't some kind of prank. Otherwise I just look like some dumb shark guy talking into a bunch of pages for no reason. Which means I have to ruin said prankster's day by chewin' on his head.

[He clears his throat for a moment, trying to think of the best way to put himself out there.]

Alright, here's the thing. I'm a great swimmer, but I don't know a rudder from my rear. A little sailing advice would be nice. I'm hangin' out with this guy in sun-glasses named Dave for now, and hopin' he knows more about it than I do. I'd ask locals, but the people around here seem kinda' testy, and I don't think my ugly mug is helpin' matters too much.

[Stains appear as the sound of someone munching rather noisily on live lobsters is heard over the journal.

Also, I could use some tips on keepin' good eats on a ship. Big fridge would be nice...Wait. Do these boats even have fridges on 'em? Have those things even been invented here? This place seems primitive as hell.

Soooo, another world, huh?

Can't say I'm not totally new to the concept, but this is just a liiiiiittle different than what I'm used to. And by a little I mean a huge hecka lot.

Okay, so tell me if I got the gist right. We've been kidnapped and the only ay home is to collect magical shard things of a ruby and make a wish? 

Man, does that sound like something from one of my books. Still, should be fun. I think. Maybe.
