[Accidental Voice Post/Action to Spades]

So... [He's thinking back on the situation with Kairi, and what happened with her. He just happens to be saying this while looking through the journal.]

If someone dies here from now on, does this mean they'll have to...lose their memories for a little while?

[He never noticed, then again no ones actually died on his ship.]

And they lose memories too?

Yeah, actually. Actually, about a month, or so, after I got here, it happened to me.

[He's considerably less touchy about that subject, than he was after it happened.]

Well...there's a girl on my ship that it happened to...not all that long ago. [As in within the past several weeks.]

[That's a little odd, at least to him. He always thought death was permanent. It was back then, he knew that.]

O-Oh... I'm sorry to hear that. I mean it must be tough enough it happening to you, but to someone on your ship as well... [He seemed strong at least to him anyway, going through all that and still standing.]

Well, uh- I guess it was pretty tough. I mean, but I came back and nothing else happened to me. But, for her...

[He lets out a sigh.]

It wasn't fair. It was bad enough for her to die, so why did her memories have to get taken, on top of everything?!

I mean, I can't say why because I don't quite understand, but this world is just one giant ball of confusing. Maybe it's just something we aren't meant to understand.

Yeah, maybe it's not... [Well, the question had really been rhetorical, but he appreciates the thought.]

Either way, I don't want to stick around here long enough to figure anything out, other than where the shards are...

[He is nodding to himself. He wants to find those shards before anything else happens.]

Right! And I hope we can do that, we just need to keep positive... Right?

...Yeah. Heh, you're completely right about that. If we keep positive and set our minds to do whatever it take to stop it from happening, again... we can only say we did our best.

Right! And I'm sure plenty of people can do that. It seems like you can too.

[There's a pause as he lets a smile appear.]

You think so?

I do think so. [Keeping an upbeat attitude no matter what.]

Are you speaking from personal experience?

Yeah...actually. It happened to one of my friends.

And are you quite certain they have lost all of their memories? Perhaps the trauma caused a form of temporary Amnesia?

Well, actually- [Pause.] -they were back to normal seven days after coming back. It was kind of like...their memories were reset back to a couple of years ago.

I would suggest saving your concern for a later date. Your friend might have experienced a time fluctuation. There is no telling what sort of power is used to take us from our home worlds and bring us here, after all.

Time...fluctuation? [Yes, he does sound a bit confused.] ...I guess you're right. Worrying about it now, won't do any good.

Oi, we don't know for certain. Don't ask 'what happens' rather than just makin' sure it doesn't happen at all.

Yeah, you're right. [His voice drops.] I just-

[He pauses.] I feel like I should have been able to do more to stop it from happening...in the first place.

Nah. It's my fault, to begin with. On my orders, we didn't seek 'em out. We took it easy on them and gave them a lot of chances to escape.

We wouldn't have even been boarded if I were rough with them from the start. So, if there's anyone to blame, it's the one who gave everybody directions and--that's me.

Don't...say that! You're a great captain, okay? You did what you thought was right! There's no way you could've possibly known...what was gonna happen...and...

[His voice gradually goes softer.

Huh.

Guess he should probably be saying some of that to himself...]

Guess...all we can do is what you said. We'll make sure this never happens, again. [His tone is completely serious.] If they come for us, again, we'll make sure they never want to mess with us, again!

That's the spirit. Command is my responsibility, but everyone has to get strong. A captain can only be in one place at a time, so everyone has to be ready all at once.

Other than that, no matter what--we're all loyal to one another. If you beat yourself up, it's because you have the right attitude.

But, don't let it stop there. Get stronger, get smarter and be as scary as you can.

Heh...right. I'll keep that in mind! [A pause.] Thanks, captain. I'll definitely get stronger and...next time we fight them, I'll work extra hard to help protect everyone.
