Voice & Voice
When you pay attention your journal this day, the clear voice of young Maribelle rings out.
"Ahem! Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to formally introduce to you my son Brady. Say hello to everyone, Brady dear."
"... Tch. Hey. ... Y'know, I already said my piece when I first got here."
There's the sound of a parasol being bonked over Brady's head for his atrocious manners. "Yes dear, but we are formally introducing you to everyone!"
"Ow!" He groans, rubbing his head. After a sigh, he clears his throat. "... My name is Brady. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"Very good. Now as I was saying, this is my son Brady, and today we are going to play for you a violin duet that I have trained him extensively for. Are you ready Brady?"
There's a bit of a pause. "Shouldn't we do something more important, like helpin' the captain, or checking on maps, or..." An even longer pause. You can almost hear the glare. "... Yes, Ma."
After some extra grumbling, the strings slowly start to play out. Despite the argument, the two are clearly talented, The performance is full of heart, passion, and dedication. As the last notes ring out...
"Nicely done, darling."
"... Thanks, Ma."
"And with that, I bid you adieu good people, until next time."
"... There's gunna be a next time?!"
((OOC: Both maribelle and brady will reply to comments!))

Huh. Which goes to show you that you shouldn't ignore your roots. Although for all you rich folk have finer dishes, some of you still don't have the best sense of taste.
[Voice]
I do hope you were not referring to me with that last comment.
[Voice]
Not at all, Twinkles. I was talking about Chrom, actually. Have you ever seen him eat an orange?
[Voice]
[sigh]
Yes, I suppose Lord Chrom isn't the most refined lord that he could be. He reminds me much of my Brady with the amount of work that it took to even bring him to this point.
[That's when that ambitious fire returns to Maribelle's voice]
That's what's so intriguing about trying to to teach you courtly manners. You're already more refined than some who are born to noble houses, and it wouldn't take much work to make you shine like a diamond in the rough.
[Voice]
[Voice]
[Voice]
[He pauses to think about that. It's really hard to imagine any of the turtles or even Gan Ning or Hiccup being put in such a position, although he'd vote Leonardo would be the best bet. IF that happened.]
Still holding tea parties around here? Guess I can't be surprised to hear that from you. I mean, given you're having violin lessons with your son.
....aw come on, I'm probably the last person anyone would want to see around any fancy events in Ylisse, and I'm perfectly fine with that.
[Voice]
You seem... very determined to avoid me teaching you. I don't suppose you'd be willing to try as just a personal favor to me?
[From her tone, it sounded almost as if Maribelle had another motive than just trying to 'refine' Gauis.]
[Voice]
...dare I ask why?
[Voice]
[Totally not budging]
[Voice]
[You wanna play that way?]
[Voice]
[Yes, yes she does.]
[Voice]
[Voice] 1/2
That's not the point Gaius. I could teach any low born gutter rat to be refined, but they wouldn't be you now would they?! You're my friend Gaius... one of the only friends I have here from home, and you've always looked out for me, even before you knew me!
[Voice] 2/2
...
Did it ever occur to you... that perhaps just... once in a while, I'd like to do something for you?
[Voice]
So you'll only indulge low born gutter rats that you know personally.
[It doesn't bother him that much, but he feels she could have tried to phrase it a little better, at least.]
...
...I never expect anyone to want to do anything for me. Usually if they do, then it's for some other reason, or they expect something back.
[Voice]
That's not what I meant and you know it! By the gods you're infuriating! It's hard enough for me to ask you to do anything for me without feeling guilty, or embarrassed, but now you have the audacity to think that I want to hold these lessons over your head, as some sort of favor that you'd owe, to me?!
[GODS! She hated men, she hated pirates, she hated the stupidity of it all, and right now she saw all these things in Gaius.]
Go crawl back to whatever corner you'd like to glower in Gaius, because I'm finished trying to do anything for you. Friends do things for friends without considering the cost, friends help each other simply because they want to make the other person happier. The only reason I was going to give you these lessons was so that I had an excuse to spend more time with you, you ungrateful wretch!
I thought we were close friends, so forgive me for being totally, utterly, WRONG!!!
[The sound of the journal slamming is so hard, so fast, and so loud, it's practically like a thunderclap. You'll have to wait for her too cool down a bit... she can be a bit tempermental at times ^^;]
[Voice]
Women. Crivens, I don't think I'll ever understand them.
