Voice & Voice
When you pay attention your journal this day, the clear voice of young Maribelle rings out.
"Ahem! Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to formally introduce to you my son Brady. Say hello to everyone, Brady dear."
"... Tch. Hey. ... Y'know, I already said my piece when I first got here."
There's the sound of a parasol being bonked over Brady's head for his atrocious manners. "Yes dear, but we are formally introducing you to everyone!"
"Ow!" He groans, rubbing his head. After a sigh, he clears his throat. "... My name is Brady. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"Very good. Now as I was saying, this is my son Brady, and today we are going to play for you a violin duet that I have trained him extensively for. Are you ready Brady?"
There's a bit of a pause. "Shouldn't we do something more important, like helpin' the captain, or checking on maps, or..." An even longer pause. You can almost hear the glare. "... Yes, Ma."
After some extra grumbling, the strings slowly start to play out. Despite the argument, the two are clearly talented, The performance is full of heart, passion, and dedication. As the last notes ring out...
"Nicely done, darling."
"... Thanks, Ma."
"And with that, I bid you adieu good people, until next time."
"... There's gunna be a next time?!"

[voice]
I didn't know you were so talented!
[voice]
[voice]
[You can hear the smile in her voice.]
When you can hear one's heart in the song, then you know it's beautiful.
[voice]
[voice]
I should like to play for you sometime, Mr. Brady.
[voice]
[voice]
Where were you able to procure a violin, Mr. Brady?
[voice]
[Also, what is this horrible feeling about Kodachi and Maribelle creeping up on the back of his neck...
[voice]
[It's probably nothing, Brady. Just look away . . .]
[voice]
[voice]
My fiance himself is a ruffian, but ah - I overlook this in favor of love.
[voice]
[voice]
Ah, but Miss Maribelle, I forgot to tell you that you are talented yourself! Such a beautiful piece.
[voice]
You know you really are such a lovely youth, perhaps you should start considering your prospects for a fiancee in this world. There's no way of knowing how long you may find yourself here.
[voice]
[She stopped short. If only you could see her blush!]
A betrothed here? But - oh, I couldn't. I simply couldn't.
[Never mind that she was 100% certain that Ranma was in love with Akane. She was still hoping, damn it.]
[voice]
[If Maribelle was there right now she'd be putting a shushing finger to Kodachi's lips.]
Just because you are betrothed to another in another world, does not mean that you could not keep your prospects open. Have you a ring on your finger? Are you wed yet? A betrothed who doesn't seal the deal with a ring sounds as though they do not take your engagement seriously enough. You deserve far better my dear than waiting and hoping.
[voice]
He - he can't afford a ring, because he's not that wealthy, but . . . any ring would have done . . .
[Never mind the fact that her "fiance" wouldn't go anywhere near her with a ring.]
[voice]
[voice]
[Kodachi let out a blustery sigh. This conversation was making her sad.]
I'll consider your words, Miss Maribelle. As much as they pain me.
[Because she knew for a fact that she and Ranma weren't going to end up together, as much as she wanted it.]
