2nd Sky Journey 🐺 The Shards 🐺 [Written]

[Some recent activities have brought a certain issue to the forefront of his mind.]

I have a question for all of you....

[There was a slight delay in his words]

If your crew were to gather all of the shards- what would you intend to do with them?

[Knowing all that they did now, it was possible that someone might try to use the power for ill-will. Not that anyone’s answers would alter Ratonhnhaké:ton’s plans. The shards, like Washington’s scepter could fall into the wrong hands. He wouldn’t trust it or them to anyone.]

[Well, Ratonhnhaké:ton had started out on the Sinewave, but he had not remained there for the entire duration of the battle and had missed the portion where his father was injured. Besides, it was not like Haytham was all that fond of reporting his status over the journals. For that fact, neither was Ratonhnhaké:ton.]

[He immediately started looking Haytham over for any noticeable sign of injury]

For the most part.. I have no complaints about them. [What was that question about.....?] The ship is sound. The crew is inexperienced, but most are willing to learn and contribute. [I have to keep saying most... because at least one is a lazy bum..]

[There was nothing noticeable, no mark or bandage that gave away that he had even been in a fight. Healing magic was remarkable. Even the small cuts and scrapes that were not in the main area of treatment had disappeared.]

You are getting along with them well then, good. I did not think they would cause you any difficulties.

[Not like that jerk in Gun Frontier. See? He is trying to make sure you are settled in Connor. Awkwardly. But, it is an attempt.]

[I wouldn't know. I never needed healing magic. ~~Be envious. And forget about the time I used too many of my own powers and I needed your help to get on board a ship~~]

[Yeah- forget that jerk. It is still very awkward. Are you going to pack a lunch for me later, or lace my shoes for me? It's nice.. in a way. That Haytham cares]

What about you...? Are you getting along with everyone now? [Heard you got into a scuffle on deck.. not tooooo long ago with another crew member]

[Should he change your diaper as well? I wouldn't count on more than simple chit chat. ]

You make it sound as if I have difficulty with that.

[There is absolutly no trace of irony in statement.]

I believe things are amicable enough again. What ever irritated Ban seems to have passed for the most part, though he does harbor some lingering animosity towards me for Elissa's death.

[How could that not change when it is discovered how forgiving Elissa herself was on the matter? ]

I never bothered to tell him your part in her murder.

[So... protecting you. Don't get too sentimental about it and ruin the moment.]

[Not responding verbally to that, Ratonhnhaké:ton offered Haytham a pointed look]

I had noticed that although his temper has always been ill, it is less so now. [You took the fall for me...]

You should have told him the truth. [I don't care if he knows, and I had less of a association with the man.] There was nothing else that could have been done in that situation.. and I would have attested to that if he had decided to take out his grief on me.

[Lol .. no sentimentality here. Still, this was so weird! Was he ever going to get used to Haytham doing things like this?]

Nonsense. It occured by my order. Besides if anyone had a sake in her rescue it should have been me.

[Said for reasons that will become obvious later. ]

I did fail her in that.

[The floor was given a glance before he stood. Unfortunately sentmentality had slipped in even with out Connor's doing. Time to withdrawl.]

I should make my way back to the Sinewave. If that Captain has managed to avoid sinking her vessal they may be in need of me.

["By your order".... yeah- well. Haytham might have played a role in it but those words were a sticking point nonetheless. ~~Ratonhnhaké:ton probably would have arrived at the same conclusion without the other man's interference~~]

[Not sure way Haytham said that last part. From Ratonhnhaké:ton's perspective Haytham and Ban had an equal reason to be invested in Elissa's welfare]

[You're lucky Ratonhnhaké:ton is not the best at emotions either or his could have made this more uncomfortable for you]

Mm. I take it, she is inexperienced?

[Yes, a very fortunate thing. One wouldn't want to get too into feelings... they might have to talk about them if they did!
Speaking about Codi is a great distraction though, one that was seized upon with a great deal of enthusiasm.]

She nearly rammed the bloody Mistress on the way out here. I shudder to think what sh might do if left to her own devices.

[I don't think either one of us wants to go there... so CODI. Yes, let's talk about Codi]

Has she always been the captain of the Sinewave? [Ratonhnhaké:ton would be surprised that the ship has lasted this long if she has]

[Excellent plan! Let's do talk about Codi!]

I doubt it. Who would ever willingly join a ship with her as the Captain?

[Sorry Codi but, yeah... Haytham did not think much of her Captain-ing skills.]

That is a bit harsh....

[Hadn't she acquired at least one new crew member since they'd met her?]

.. and she is not the only captain here that is inexperienced. [He had no real reason to defend her so he was merely stating facts]

[Harsh really? He nearly laughed!]

You have never tried to sail with her. She has no experience and no sense of common sense. One day these failings will bring harm to her and her crew.

You do have the benefit of experience in making your assessment.
