[Some recent activities have brought a certain issue to the forefront of his mind.]

I have a question for all of you....

If your crew were to gather all of the shards- what would you intend to do with them?

[Knowing all that they did now, it was possible that someone might try to use the power for ill-will. Not that anyone’s answers would alter Ratonhnhaké:ton’s plans. The shards, like Washington’s scepter could fall into the wrong hands. He wouldn’t trust it or them to anyone.]

Everyone wants to go home, so that's what I would wish for. It's the safe option.

Assuming of course that this is something the gem can actually be used for. [Ratonhnhaké:ton isn't sure that he entirely trusts the information they've been given] I am glad that so many have answered in this similar fashion. [But.. honestly.. if you had ill-intent.. you wouldn't be advertising it]

Just the stupid obsession with destiny that everyone has.

What is this future that your people foresee for your land?

We all have to follow our ancestors' lives exactly. Follow their "stories". Everyone's in a story, destined to act out the same thing their parents and grandparents did.

I do not see how that could be possible. [Everyone has their own unique qualities and personalities. Thinking about his own world- and how things have greatly changed with the influx of settlers.. roles have had to change with the times]

Everyone.. should be free to decide what it best for themselves. [It's what he's been fighting for this whole time. Freedom]

It's easier for some people than others, that's for sure.

Is there a punishment for those that choose to follow their own path?

[He was just trying to understand why her people were so set in their ways even though to an extent his had been too. Which is why they had perished..]

They say we die. That our stories disappear, and so do we. I know for a fact that's not true, but you still need to be careful to hide it. Let's just say there's big, bad trouble otherwise. But things might be changing now, as much as Headmaster Grimm wants to pretend it's still the same.

I am sorry to hear of the state of your land. Being forced to hide what you truly believe is disconcerting.

[Wait. Headmaster? Like in a school..?]

Does this one man hold that much sway?

The school's made to indoctrinate kids into following their stories. Headmaster Grimm had the Storybook of Legends, too, and everybody had to sign it to be sealed into their fates. Up until... just before I got here, actually.

[Who targets children? This whole scenario was distasteful]

I wonder for what purpose he is so adamant that these stories must continue, unaltered.. unchanged. Outwardly, it does not appear like there is much to gain from it, save for the continuation of his policies. A school would still be required even if everyone were allowed their freewill.

I can understand how this must be an adjustment for you, but it is one for the better.

You don't know the halfling of it. It sounds like most people here don't have a legacy looming over them.

Perhaps not but that is not to say they are not without their own concerns...

I was thinking more specifically of dangers that loom in their own times and worlds but yes, the navy is also a concern for many.

My world is embroiled in another war with a madman at the helm. I do not think he will stop at anything to obtain his goals... the most confusing of all.. is that he used to be a great man.

But he flipped his script in a bad way, huh?

You could say that. I just do not understand what could have changed him so greatly.
