Uh. Snow usually isn't suppose to be green, is it? I mean, I really don't think so, but...is this suppose to mean something? [A pause] If I didn't know better I'd swear Ace had something to do with this.

[Despite all the confusion from Asami, instead of staying in her room, she decides to walk around the ship. Anyone on The Sun will more than likely get a fist full of green snow thrown at them if they're walking around.

Why? Just because.

Someone has a little too much free time on their hands at the moment]

[~~It's gonna happen anyway sob.~~ It can't be seen, but Asami waves a hand in dismissal at her journal and her tone becomes more friendly]

I won't say any more. [A pause] I'm Asami, by the way.

[And it's sort of refreshing to skip the confusion his name brings about.]

Do you have anyone that can use fire on your crew?

[She won't lie, it is kind of a funny name, but she's heard a lot of bizarre ones already that she won't even bring it up]

[If ever they meet in-person, she'll understand why.]

One. And, well, he's a dragon.

[Well she can't say she's ever seen a real life dragon before, here or back home]

A dragon? You're able to fit it on the ship?

[Unless they pulled a Naga, and shrunk him down to baby dragon size]

[The boy has to remember not everyone gets to see or interact with a real, live dragon.]

Luckily for us, he can. Unlike other dragons, Toothless doesn't take up too much space.

[Luckily for Asami, she's interacted with a couple of different creatures here already, so the suspense of a dragon is kind of lost on her. But she still sounds excited]

So is there something that makes him different from the others?

[Looks like she veered off topic a little]

[He's totally fine with that]

Well...yeah! Several things, in fact. He's a Night Fury – a really rare species of dragon from our world. So far he's just been the only one of his kind, but who knows?

[Great, Asami, you set off Hiccup's dragon otaku mode]

[He's got her interested at least. It's been who knows how long since she's had an actually conversation about dragons]

What makes that species different? I mean besides the size difference.

[And now to bombard him with questions, just cause]

[To be fair, he hasn't spoken much about it of late.

Open the floodgates, here comes more dragon knowledge!]

For starters, Night Furies are faster than any other known species of dragon. Like, really fast. Since Toothless has black scales, he has a greater advantage flying at night.

He's part of the "Strike Class" grouping, and he lives up to that classification. While all dragons breathe fire, his aren't limited to just six shots. Not all the time, anyway. And he never misses.

What's most interesting is that you can hear him, but you never know which direction he's actually coming from. This method is frightening and it's put into good use! [Pause.] Not that I was. Afraid. Or anything.

[If it helps, Asami might have done the same thing if someone asked her about cars or driving.

But the dragons from her world have long been gone (except for maybe 1 or 2, but still) so she smiles over the journal, even if it can't be seen. He really did dump a lot of info in her]

It's too bad we're not on the same ship, I would have liked to get a good look at him. Toothless, was it?

So I take this you work a lot with dragons and not just him?

[That would be great. That way they could both nerd out over things. Because he does feel a little awkward for dropping that much info in one go.]

Yeah, that's right. If I knew where everyone was, it wouldn't be hard to fly over. A big ocean and me with no working map...

[He'll have to fix that.]

That's the basic idea. They all have very different personalities – which is probably why they compliment my fellow Viking riders.

[Well if he's an expert on it and has a passion for it, why wouldn't he info dump? That's how Asami looked at it anyway]

You could ask around, I'm sure someone around here has made a bare bones map at the most. I've been think of doing that too.

[Not that she's an expert map maker or anything. Oh look, that Viking word catches her]

...Viking rider?

Anything would be better than nothing.

[Pause.]

Oh. Viking dragon riders. That's...what I am.

I can check to see if anyone on my crew has one.

Is that like a soldier?

For a second I thought you were going to say a pirate.

[Not that she cared either way, because she actually laughs a little when she says that]

[YEP trying out the turtle vernacular. That's what happens when his crew is composed of teenage mutant ninja turtles.]

Well, uh, we do the sailing thing, so it's sort of. Related?

[Never mind the fact some Vikings pillage and plunder, too.]

[Oh Hiccup. Some day he'll make a great ninja turtle]

They sound a bit similar to the Southern Water Tribe Warriors back in my world, actually. They sailed a lot too.

[Not that they pillaged and plundered as a principle or anything like that. Yeah, they don't really have Vikings back in her home]

[All he needs is a shell and he's good to go!]

Southern Water Tribe?

[Well, sounds like someone's interest is perked. It's okay, sailing is the bond]

Yeah. They're a tribe set in the South Pole.

[She pauses, realizing that won't explain much to someone not from her world]

They don't have dragons, but I think it fits pretty well into everything else you said.

I'm guessing they live in cooler climates, too? Because if they do, then yeah, that's a really uncanny coincidence.

All the time. The South Pole always has snow. [In fact, she's pretty sure the snow and ice has never melted there once] There's also the North.
