[Oh, what's this? It sounds like the journal fell onto sturdy wood planks, vibrating with the stumbling sound of footsteps running a ways away from where it landed. Well, make that footsteps and a light metal clunking mixing with the sound of a teenage Viking's yelling.]

–Aw, Toothless! No!

[The noise in the background cuts off with an abrupt and very confused growf.]

[ACTION]

[Anyone aboard the HAZMAT will now notice a ring of fresh, smoldering burn marks somewhere on the fo'c'sle (the front) of the ship.

Hiccup will be standing off to the side of it with his hands on his head.]

...Yup, this will not be good. I'm dead!

[Toothless sits there next to the unfinished ring, head tilted as he wonders what's wrong. What did he do? He just wanted to take a nap!]

About that – we've been out at sea for a few days now.

They tend not to like coming to the cities.

[Not since the villagers drove most of them away at least.]

All the pity. I'd have liked to see it.

It's probably better that way. They're still wild, after all.

I sort of wish I knew where exactly we are out here. Flying back wouldn't be so hard, that way.

Better for them, especially. People panic too easily these days.

Unfortunately, all I know is that we're nowhere near England, or any other country I know.

[No fair having all the fun talking to books, Hiccup! Toothless may not be seen, but he can be heard once he slips his head over an arm, having gotten curious as to what his boy is doing. He sniffs at the pages, giving a talky-growl, likely before he'll be pushed away by Hiccup.]

–Ah, hey, Toothless!

[Hiccup gets ~~blindsided~~ interrupted, his journal full of Night Fury nose.]

Stop– come on, get your nose out of there.

[A skinny hand does push Toothless' head away, giving a huff as he fixes the pages.]

Sorry about that, that was the dragon I was talking about. But you were saying you're from a place called England?

[Chuckles, really will have to see this dragon someday.]

[Time to distract the Toothless while still speaking.]

I don't think I know where that is. Toothless and I come from an island called Berk.

[Awww, no fun Hiccup. Grumbling, Toothless will just slink back to his not-so-warm spot on the deck. Frump.]

...I can't say I've heard of that place.

It's okay. It's small and far out in the ocean, so I'm not surprised.

I don't believe the last ones I met had dragons at their side.

Well, I'll be honest – we Vikings had problems with dragons for years before anything got better.

[Funny, he'd had a problem with Vikings too.]

I basically failed being a Viking and learned how to work with Toothless.

Much to the chagrin of my father, but that's been smoothed over.

Thus is the way of family, I suppose. My brothers and I still encounter friction.

I never had brothers or sisters, but dealing with other Vikings my age fits that perfectly.

Bigger, stronger, often more violent?

Sounds very much like my brothers. I have four. Five if you count Peter, but he's just a little boy.

[Really not sure if Peter is more his brother or his son. Thus is the life of nations.]
