So, we got the Navy coming after us. Great. Not the biggest of thrills in my life, but in this world, what can we expect?

I guess that leads to the big question: run or fight? I hate the idea of shedding blood, but at the same time, these guys are gonna be relentless, if Scurvy's warnings are of any indication...

...starting to miss the simpler black-and-whiteness of back home now.

I'd rather avoid fighting due to the little number we have, but yet at the same time even if we do run, what's to say they still won't chase us later?

Sometimes a guy has got to be knocked around a few times before they get the picture. But, I think we need to gather together and talk about our next plan of action.

Also we should be hitting land soon. I made sure we didn't go too far from the main island so we could get use to sailing some more.

Fighting's one thing, but fighting another human is something just not used to. [Despite the fact that she used to be evil. And a cat, but that's neither here nor there.]

But, yeah, we should figure out what to do next...

Sadly though people fight other people quite often I found. Depressing and a bummer to be quite honest. It's a thing I wish people wouldn't be, but it happens.

I think for now having alliances is a good thing and I'm working on that, so that will help.

We'll try not to crash the boat, that would be most improper.

If you get ambushed and boarded you should fight to stay alive. Taking out their... [he's scratched out engines, which these ships don't have.] sails they can't follow you might be a tactic you'd find more agreeable.

Fighting to stay alive is something I'm more agreeable to. And I'll have to take that suggestion to heart. Especially if we do it first.

Well ideally you'd want to get the first shot in even if they are just to disable.

There weren't any recent wars where you came from, I guess. I used to not like fighting when I was little.

Nothing is ever black and white, lass. If you think it is, you're not looking hard enough.

It feels like it's easier to believe it, though. Especially with what we've all been through. I've only been here a month, two months tops and yet I've yet to get used to it.

It's mostly due to hindsight. Home always looks perfect when you're away from it. But it takes people time to get used to this life. Some take months, some years.

I dislike killing. But I especially hate having to fight those who don't who I am, and can't even defend themselves properly against magic.

I'd parrot the whole "nothing's black and white" thing, but that's a bit overdone right now.

Few things are quite that simple. As it is, though... Running shall not accomplish a thing. I would much rather just protect those precious to me, but... I would be foolish to think they can just be hidden away and be safe in this world.

Hate to admit it, but you're right. Just... gah. There's fighting and then there's bringing harm to another person that doesn't sit right with me.

That was something I had to reconcile a very long time ago, myself. As it stands, if it is between my friends and loved ones, and those who wish to harm them... That makes the decision far easier.

If there's no way around a fight, then it can't be helped. Still, we should be smart and know when to retreat instead of just flopping around.

I agree, and since the crew I'm part of is so small, I think trying to keep out of everyone's way is for the best. I'd rather not lose everything because we made a mistake...

How many are there in your crew? The one I'm a part enough is big enough for two ships, but they still took me on.

You'd better be prepared to fight and to know when the best times to flee are. If you can avoid a fight, don't get into it. People looking for a fight where there doesn't need to be one are frankly stupid.
