[Rin has been through a lot lately - and, really, things like getting poisoned are pretty low on the list. The longer he's here, the more he's starting to realize that he may never go back to his own world, and turning 18 a while ago has only emphasized how his time is running out.
Anyway, he's not here to whine. The one and only goal he's ever had is out of reach, probably forever, but he's also had to realize, reluctantly, how there are other important things in life. It's just really hard to try and decide what to do now - you know, apart from somehow trying to accept that he'll break his promise to his father. So... he decides to ask. For the first time ever, he sticks to writing, happy to keep that extra barrier between himself and everyone else. No one's going to hear any emotion from him.]
People come, people go. Sometimes people come back. There's a good chance we're never getting out of this place - or not permanently.
So, if we're stuck here, what are we supposed to do with our lives?

We keep looking!
[written]
nevermind that Rin's done that himself, too. Rin stubbornly sticks to writing, though there's a small blot where he held the pen too long before finally moving it.]For what - those shards? You gotta be kidding.
[written]
Why would I be? We've already found a couple! They're obviously out there and worth finding, right?
[written]
At this rate, we'll retire before we go home.

[The temptation to reveal that the Witch had an especially large piece on her is strong, but something Codi decides to avoid. Instead, she takes the indirect path: ]
It might not seem like a lot because some crews don't want to let other crews know that they've found shards yet. I can see why they'd want to keep something like that secret.
Regardless of how many we've actually found, we know they're around and they have some kind of power associated with them, so we might as well look. What other options do we have? Sit around on the ocean and mope?

written forev-... well, for now, anyway
If I could, you think I'd bother asking the likes of you? [Sore point -> instant dislike.]
likewise with voice
Well, you asked, so don't get pissy when someone answers, y'know.
If you're thinking of giving up, then you'll never get out of this place anyways.

[Falling back into old habits already. Well, he tried...]

Aaaaand to voice, because what is staying calm when you can shout at your journal?
excellent
I train every day, so you can still do that sorta crap! And who cares if there are a million billion trillion shards?! I'll just look a million billion trillion times harder!
[He doesn't even comment on that last part about it being too late because his entire world is about to end if he doesn't get back home. His shout does drop just a little.]
Besides, you might have been lookin' for months, but I just showed up. Now it'll go quicker.

[Hey, carrying out some self-imposed nigh-impossible task you've worked at your whole life is totally equal to the world ending. Because it's Rin's world... sad as that is.]
Hah! Right. I'll talk to you again in a couple of months.

AND WHAT THE HELL? THERE'S WATER EVERYWHERE! DO YOU SWIM IN BARBECUE SAUCE OR SOMETHIN'?!
[Yeahhhh, it doesn't take much to escalate him at all.]

[Hands down the most intellectual conversation ever to take place in the journals already.]

If you find an Olympic pool in this place, I will hand myself over to the Navy.

Reorganize our priorities. Adapt.

There's nothing he wants in this world.]
I'll find something. Something physical to do would be good.
[Well, that's not really a step forward yet. But it could be a useful distraction while he figures out the less practical aspects of who he wants to be.]

[Kyouya is actually thinking hard as he writes. Because he's had to re-evaluate his world numerous times. Had to work and try and rearrange. This is... both more and less dramatic.
He's far from home, but that means he's far from the expectations that kept him bound for so long.]
Find something in your daily life. Either eating something that's healthy because you need to or isn't healthy because you want to. Whatever is a shift, whatever you haven't done before but wanted to. Make that a small priority. And then it gets easier. Eventually. To start to shift things.

Will it last? Probably not, but the attempt may be enough to start that change, slowly.]
I doubt that's going to help.
[He may or may not be covering his ass in case he fails.]
But I'll try.

It's hard and infuriating. But there's nothing you can do but cope. Even sulking about it? If you do that? Is a way of coping.
You'll figure something out.

[Yes, he does. But you'll never know! Unless you have eyes, then all bets are off.]
It's just weird. Not knowing.
[And he can't help but wonder if this is how his dad felt when he had to change his life. It makes Rin feel that much guiltier.]

It's a very difficult position, and I hope you find an answer that works for you soon.

[And really, Mitsuhide is proud of you for getting this far. He knows it isn't easy.]
There is an answer, and I know you'll find it.

We'll see.

If I don't like it, then I'm going to do what I can to change it.
