Hain’t got much in th’ way ‘o preamble this time around. Comet’s getting’ closer. Ye can see it now without a lookin’ glass if ye know how ta look which I’m bettin’ is a grand total a two ‘o ye. That’s the least ‘o yer worries at th’ moment but hain’t that always th’ case.

News
Other than a new revolt in Yuezhong throwin’ the country into chaos; and a case ‘o the green plague sweepin’ through Dermavern yer biggest worry is gonna be the Navy. Three Days Jack is captured, fleets been decimated, and he and his crew are ta be hanged at High Point in a week’s time. After that, they’re comin’ after ye. There’s rumblins that they’re settin’ the admirals out and the Eight Dogs also known as th’ toughest Captains in th’ Navy. Stay on yer guard and try not ta get yerselves into any deeper trouble. Ye still hain’t been forgiven fer the Empieza Route and they’ll want some ‘o their own back.

Weather

North: Still in a deep chill but not as much as ye’ve been used to. Weather should be clear and cold, warmin up near the end ‘o the week until ye can stay out more ‘n an hour or so w’out gettin’ frostbite.

West: Rough winds an’ high seas but relatively dry despite that. Heard tell Tartle may be surfacin’ there by th’ end ‘o th’ week, if ye want ta stop by fer a few days.

East: Hope ye got buckets cuz yer gettin’ wet. Rain lastin through til mid week til it turns ta hail. Watch out fer typhoons especially in th’ sight ‘o warm weather islands. Also there’s been sightin’s of a water spout ‘er two and ye’d best avoid them if ye don’t want to die horribly.

South: Calm and warm, borderin’ on hot in some places. Not a lot ‘o wind, though so ye may have difficulty getting’ place ta place. Good time ta either get drunk an’ wait fer the breeze or break out th’ oars.

Ain't like a ruler thing. 'S more like a freedom thing. King's untouchable, cuz he's the strongest. Pirates either go 'long with what he says or gets outta his way or gets destroyed. Marines think looooong an' hard 'bout how much they wanna die 'fore tryin' t' arrest him. When jus' the name an' the flag alone's enough t' keep an island safe from bein' looted by other pirates, that's how y'll know he's gettin' close.

Because mark my words, as much as I like ye, if I consider ye too much 'o a threat to my home I will do everythin' in my power to obliterate ye off th' face 'o my seas.

So, what's this about the Empieza Route?

Ye would think that ye lot would check with those who around them who might know better rather than ta ask me about it, but as I hain't got time ta sit around and wait fer ye lot ta get yer act together...

Th' Empieza Route was an after effect of one 'o ye new comin' idiots causin' a big stir in Empieza because yer first reaction is to just go blow things up no matter who might be in the way, callin' in the Navy which those idiots ye sail with summarily beat. They've gone, licked their wounds, and come back in a stronger force than ye can imagine to attempt to wipe ye lot off th' map. Yer lucky I'm still rootin' fer ye, but I can't say as my patience hasn't been worn to a thread more times'n I can count.

I've been following your news about this other pirate. I had assumed at first that all the "pirates" were those brought here like us, but this clearly isn't the case. It makes more sense why the navy wouldn't bother to discriminate between us, then.

It's a problematic situation, and I appreciate you making us aware of it.

Ta be honest they like the homegrown pirates a tad bit more. They know what ta expect and there's a sight less fear 'o destruction. They all have to live in this world fer all their lives. Assumably ye lot don't. No tellin' what ye might do.

That's true. The natives here don't have access to their chakra or seem to have many of the abilities that have been displayed by those I've seen from other worlds. One would think that, given the resident pirates are more inclined to purposeful violence towards civilians, that they would be considered more dangerous, but it only takes one frightened ninja/wizard/fairy/what-have-you with a proclivity for fire or some other explosive ability to make short work of a town.

It's the lack of knowledge. The uncertainty.

Yer assumin' much about th' natives abilities. Ye hain't th' only ones who are gifted ye know so I'd keep an eye out fer that afore it bites ye in th' ass. But aye, it tis the lack 'o knowledge and uncertainty and th' fact that at least one islands burned cuz one 'o yet lot is a bedamned psychopath apparently. It hain't all sunshine an' misunderstood roses.

I'm afraid the only natives I've run into have been the ones on Isle Empieza... and then the Witch. I shouldn't assume that the latter is a special case either.

[It's probably best not to remind her that his brother was responsible for that mess on Empieza before. The navy personnel they'd interrogated before didn't appear to have any special abilities.

He can't directly ask her how common powers are among the natives.]

I should address the other crews myself. See what their experiences are.
