[With all the commotion of Konoha-nin showing up and then disgusting mind-controlling candy showing up directly after them, Sasuke has nearly forgotten about the other encounter he had on Empieza the day he met his former teammates -- but there's finally been a lull, and he's perched as high in the rigging as he can go without the journal blowing out of his hands when he remembers.]

Has anyone seen this?

[Believe it or not, he has actually put effort into this drawing, but a dragon is not a battle diagram.]

It was looking for a skinny kid with brown hair.

It should have been obvious enough even if they don't have dragons. [Then again, not everyone has dragons in their own world, and maybe not everyone fully understands what it is that allows flying things to fly.

That explanation helps clear up the strange things about the saddle, though it also implies ...]

[Although Sasuke can't see him, he nods.]

Yeah, exactly. I made the thing.

[That explains the evident delight the dragon had shown when the clone had neared the apparent appearance of this kid. Not just any kid, either, if he was able to rig something like that to a flying creature.]

I directed him to look for you at the harbour. [Sort of ... Sasuke had pointed emphatically at the harbour, at least. There's a pause, then --] Are you good at flying together?

[It would require an impressive amount of intuition.]

It probably would've helped a little more if I was actually there around the same time as he was...

[He's still worried about the dragon. The question asked diverts his concern a bit.]

We're good, yeah! I mean, it took some time to figure it out, but it all came together eventually.

[Especially when falling from perilous heights before dodging all those crazy rock formations. Sheesh, how even.]

He's hard to miss. If he's still around there, he'll find you. [Sasuke sounds a good deal more confident that the dragon will find the kid than the other way around, for all that the dragon probably stands out more.]

That's an impressive skill. [They could use more aerial support in any fights in the future -- all of them, for the next time they have to fight a common enemy. Though ...] What do you know about what this world is like so far?

[Well, he can't disagree. Toothless has better senses than he does.]

[Due to not hearing things like that all of the time, he feels a little sheepish.

He then pauses, rubbing the back of his neck in thought.]

I'd say the most prominent are the structural aspects of this place. It looks nothing like the houses and great hall back at home. Most of it is really...different. And busier. I don't know if you have any experience with this kind of setting, but that's what I'm getting.

I'm sort of wondering if the ocean will feel the same, however...

[No one's commented on the ocean part being unusual yet, though Sasuke supposes after everything else it would hardly be surprising if someone did.]

The ocean seems to be the only thing that's the same across worlds. Saltwater, tides, the kind of animals you'd expect. [A pause, then remembering that this kid has dragons in his own world:] That I expect in my world.

Anyway, I meant more the kind of situation we're in. Has anyone told you to expect combat and be prepared to fight?

To be honest, that's a relief. I don't know how I'd feel if something was wrong.

No, not really. But I figure if there's boats, combat's expected.

[There's plenty that is wrong in this world other than the size of the ocean, but the kid will work the details out on his own quickly enough.]

What experience do you have fighting against magic?

Magic! Uh, well. No. I don't. [He sounds sure of it, if not a little awkward.] I haven't really seen magic that often. Heard of it, yes, but seeing – no.

I see. [He sounds disappointed, but then remembers --] They just call everything magic here, but it can be anything. Have you dealt with powers beyond what normal civilians can do at all?

Nothing beyond natural Viking strength and dragon fire, really. I should expect to see things can get a little crazy with that in the mix, right?

Yes, things get crazier than that. [He's been here long enough that he manages to sound mostly deadpan about it, too.]

If you can get to combat training with your dragon, the dragon fire could be useful.

[Considering he's gone through a crash course in flying one time and then heading a greenhorn dragon team as a means of reinforcement against a monster dragon, he's heading in the right direction with that advice in mind.]

That shouldn't be too much of a problem...

Are you kidding? It's practically a lifestyle and an occupational hazard! Every Viking in every generation was born to be a warrior.

[His lips putter a bit as he exhales.]

Yeah, basically. Never know when they might come in, so it's better safe than sorry.

I see. That makes sense. [Although 'warrior' isn't really the term Sasuke would use, he's never seen the point of the occasional scattered civilian militias where the men aren't born and bred to the life.]
