I thought things were pretty strange after the entire mind possession event that just had everyone losing their minds and serving some kind of tempting voice in the brains. Not to make a horrible joke, but I'll pass on the homicidal indoctrination next time. I don't think Joker has forgiven me yet for the entire 'trying to murder him' thing. It's not like I meant to do it.

Although, now there are bowls of those terrible, chalky valentines day candy hearts on the ship. I thought those were only limited to one planet, seems they're a universal issue now.

So, as an experiment, I'm asking someone to eat one of those candies. For science, of course.

I think I may have seen the effects of one. It's only a guess, but I'm pretty sure that my friend wouldn't have confessed his love to our captain publicly before saying it privately under normal circumstances.

I'm still recovering from the "trying to murder" thing too, so I'd prefer the candy hearts if that's as bad as they get.

If that's all they do it's tame compared to the homicidal indoctrination. Although, I bet it's causing a lot of embarrassment for people if they're confessing their love for people; causing mayhem too, probably.

Probably so. Especially if those confessing love are the same ones with the homicidal indoctrination so recently.

I'm pretty lucky that my whole crew seemed really quick to accept that it wasn't my fault. Quicker than I was. But it'd be a weird time to get all touchy-feely with them all the same.

Why don't you just try one?

After randomly having my mind taken over by some crazy voice, I'll be avoiding anything that's even remotely suspicious. Especially when the 'don't take candy from people that you don't know', or magic bowls in this case, rule applies.

I'm not sure how most of my crew feels about the entire thing, but they likely know it's not any of my own doing.

You mean you haven't talked to them about it? Is that really okay?

We're not really the touchy-feely, group hugs, talk about our feelings openly kind of people. It's a good day if we all walk back on the ship in one piece and no ones dead and no one wants to kill each other.

If they had a problem, I'd know.

Oh. I guess maybe my ship is a little different. I tried to be quiet about things and just mind my own business, and a lot of people hunted me down and talked to me about it.

I guess your crew might be a little more dangerous to try the candy around too. I don't think anyone on mine would stab me if I got all touchy-feely with them, it'd just be weird.

Hey now, I don't think I'd get stabbed but I might get some people swinging punches. At the very least they'd be feeling extremely uncomfortable if I ate one of those candies and started hugging people or proclaimed that I loved them.

At most it'd get me locked up until I came to my senses.

I guess that's not so bad then.

I might get punched by my friend from home, but I'm pretty sure anyone else would just laugh.

Except Hajime-chan. She'd never let me live it down. She's the kind of person to tease like that.

We're a little busy exploring an island right now anyway, but the bowl is at our camp, and it is a little tempting to try. Just to see.

Go right ahead and see what happens. I'm sure that whatever the candies have you do will be entertaining if nothing else.

Sounds like you have a pretty good crew to see what happens though.

I have a feeling my crew is just a little too nice by default for it to make much difference.

I don't think I've ever met a pirate crew that's so open to accept hugs.

Well it's not like we were always pirates. I suppose being here for a really long time could change someone. But I don't think any of us are mean by nature.

Each candy has a message written on it. Eat the candy, you'll have a strong desire to do whatever it says to the first person you see.

My friends dissolved them into my tea when I wasn't looking.

You have the kindest friends. Maybe you should consider guarding your tea a little more closely.

They are.

They consider me a little reserved, so their intention was to get me to be a bit more demonstrative, I believe.

That would be entertaining to watch, especially it you were confessing your undying love to one of your crewmates all because of a candy.

They were kind enough to limit it to mostly "hug" candies.

Good thing, save you from proclaiming your love to all of them, instead just making them awkward with hugs. I like their style.

They enjoyed themselves. They seem to have gotten tired of it.

Nothing so drastic. Just a few harsh words.

That's repairable at least, death isn't really. At least not easily or cheaply.

As others have no doubt informed you, they have an effect on the mind corresponding to the statement inscribed on them.

Nice and literal, if a little sadistic of whoever gave out these candies.

Considering the stealth and coordination required to lay all of this out without anyone noticing, I doubt this is anywhere near being a prank by the local population.

I don't think any population that barely understands how to refine iron would be able to play a prank like this.

I don't usually read my candy before I eat it. They have something written on them?

Depending on what is written on them, they have an effect that makes you do whatever the candy says to the first person you see.

So, I'd say go find Garrus or Joker and see what happens.

[There's a long pause here because now he's going to look at a few of the candies. Then he finally replies.]

I think I'll just be staying away from everybody for awhile.

We don't know how long they last so it might continue to work until you eventually run into someone.
