[it is a little after dinner, and he is in his little boat, lying back and watching the moon over the water, singing low to himself]
O come home my sailor boy
Far over deep gray waves you roam
I've been waiting long long years
To see you come back home.
O come home my sailor boy
Someone else waits for you, too
The glinting muskets at the door
Just say how I loved you
O don't worry sailor boy
I will watch you mount the stand
And when you go, my sailor boy
I'll take your hard cold hand
[after that fades into stillness, he'll write]
Ever felt too strong for anyone's good? Like you're not quite yourself anymore due to circumstances? Offhand, anyone think Davey Jones will grant requests if you end up under with him?
[not that he's thinking of doing anything reckless.]

audio;
You're in a weird mood, Thatch.
audio;
Just thinking aloud, Sparks. Nothing to worry about.
audio;
You've got me, Thatch. If anythin', I don't want anybody even jokin' about speakin' to that guy until I've got him figured out.
Even then, I may want to just beat that guy up.
audio;
[him stuck with this. Them stuck here. Ace. Ace. Why did you have to go and be an idiot?]
audio;
Even if that guy could help you get what you want, I wouldn't let you sign anything with him. I don't want my brother living with regret.
That's not how a man lives. In my entire life, I'd never take back my decisions. If you ate that fruit, it's 'cause you felt a need to and I've always trusted you, Thatch.
You made a good decision. Own it!
audio;
It's not even the value of the decision. He could have made a better one. He could have not taken Logan lightly. Could have read the signs to see there was something up with him. Could have gone back and gotten his swords rather than eat the damn thing. If he'd realized what it meant, he never would have. He would have--Well he wouldn't have died first, but he would have made damn sure the situation was ten times more dire than it was.
But saying any of this to Ace was far more than his...than his captain. No. He couldn't think it. Hell. Not now. The only one who was his captain was Pops and the thought that... to know that... he had died in a damn stupid way-- Not that Thatch knew the details but to die at the hands of Marines? Pops was too great a man for that. It should have been in his bed, surrounded by his sons and allies, not like that. For Ace to die like that-- Thatch was almost this side of glad that Marshall kindly killed him before he had a chance to see any of that.
Though it was Marshall who had hurt Pops the most and so if Thatch managed to find a way to become a vengeful spirit he would break every bone in that man's body twice.
But he realizes he's been quiet for a while and probably too long so he says:]
Aye, I will.
[which is a complete lie, but Ace doesn't need to know that]
audio;
Though, he already had been.]
Even a vet like you won't do it gracefully, but I still have my expectations.
We'll be waiting for you.
