what does strength mean to you? and how does a person become stronger?

[ACTION]
[Asbel sits quietly on one of the crates abovedeck. It's not really clear if he's in some sort of "time out" or if he's here for his own reasons, but what's plain is he doesn't have any intention of moving. A few hours have passed, and he hasn't so much as gotten up to stretch or even gotten up to his usual antics. Instead, the eleven-year-old appears to be thinking hard about something.]

[He said he wanted to become a knight someday; he still does. But what does being a knight really mean? How can he serve a king and protect a whole country full of people when he can't even protect his friends or his own little brother from danger?]

you sure do know a lot about this.

so you think about what everyone else is doing during fight, too, and not just yourself. that means learning what their strengths and weaknesses are, right?

it sounds like a lot of those other things have to do with being a really good listener. but that's kinda hard when people aren't telling you very much.

Yeah, some people are really bad at talking about things. You just have to learn to figure them out or keep pestering them until they tell you. It kind of depends on what kind of person you are. If you're cute, you can get away with a lot of pestering.

pestering them, huh? my crewmates won't be too happy about that. and you know, i'd rather not pick on them too much right now. knowing my luck i'd probably just make someone cry again... so i guess that means there's a whole lot of figuring out to do.

um. i don't really get what difference being cute makes, but that suits me just fine. i'm always getting in trouble for pestering people and putting them through things anyway.

Just speaking from experience! The key is thinking about the stuff you find out from pestering people and surprising them with what you've figured out.

[At least that's how it works for that ninja girl that's always pestering her back home.]

[Usually if he discovers something embarrassing or weird he'll bring it up right away and maybe tease someone about it, but if it's more helpful to save it for the right moment when it'll actually come in useful, then...]
