[Voice - Action for the Koumyou] Guess who's back?
[There's a small crash as a journal has fallen onto the deck of the Koumyou, in the middle of the night. Then there's a voice, a familiar voice but it's a little deeper, Clementine sounds a little older.
She's not yet aware that her surroundings have changed and for those that come to see her she's splattered with blood on her face and her hands and her left sleeve is soaked through. Clementine is about a head taller, as she's no longer nine, but eleven.
Her voice is strong and defiant and she'd been in the process of turning around.]
I'm still. Not. Bitten.
[She's breathing a little hard from exertion.]

[Of course she died! That said... even Rin can tell something's different.]
... You grew up, or something?
[So interested in your well-being, it's heart-warming.]
no subject
...I've been home for two years.
[It's good he's so interested or the blood and dirt might really throw him.]
no subject
Two years?
[This place really is beyond messed up. And he could whine about that, but... the truth is, even if she's here, he's just glad to know that she's okay.]
... Could have grown a bit more.
no subject
I don't think I get to pick how much I grow.
no subject
... You're okay, right?
[His voice is a little softer than he meant it to be.]
no subject
I'm still alive.

[Okay, so he's not the best at talking to little girls. He's also not the best at apologizing, which is why he won't. He's not sure if she noticed him going after her when she fell overboard, anyway, and if she didn't, he's sure as hell not going to tell her.]
Well. Welcome back, I guess.
no subject
Do you want to sit?
no subject
[He's too surprised at the offer, and her return, to reject out of habit. So he'll sit with her, pretty much wherever she wants... but he still sucks at normal conversation.]
Two years is a long time.
no subject
Yeah, it's a long time. A lot of things happened. People have changed.
[Including herself.]
no subject
Well, people do.
[They grow up. He knows all about that.]

[Clementine looks at the table. In reality, wasn't she just lucky when she was with Lee?]
I should have been more prepared for it.
no subject
Never regret learning something important.

[Clementine looks a little sad at that and she sighs a little.]
People aren't very nice anymore.
no subject
[He sounds fairly sad himself, incredibly, but he's not going to lie to her.]
That's why you gotta look after yourself, too. Choose a path and stay on it.
no subject
Not everyone, not really but pretty close. I'm looking after myself, at least, I'm trying to. It's hard sometimes. It's not just the zombies that are a threat anymore.
no subject
What, there's more monsters wandering around in your world?
no subject
Just humans. Nobody wants to work together. The longer it goes on, the less there is to go around and people are killing each other for their supplies. Nobody trusts anyone.
[She sniffles a bit, but that's as far as she's willing to go towards crying.]
Everyone's afraid.
[She puts her hand over her bloodied sleeve, it's a reminder how far people would go not to trust one another, in her opinion.]
no subject
Fear is a shitty motivator.
no subject
I guess so. It's what keeps everyone alive though. I get it. It doesn't help me though. My group is gone.
no subject
[It's not much, but at least he means it. There's not much he can do, anyway, avoiding eye contact as he hangs his head a little.]
no subject
Thank you.
[Clementine finishes her sandwich and drinks down some juice, already feeling a little better physically.]
I might be okay, but a dog bit me and the people I met got really scared because they were sure it was a walker that bit me. That's not what happened though.
no subject
[Not that he really knows about that kind of fear, but he can pretend. It's something of a weird attempt to make her feel better, just talking along with her.]
Anyway, you're back here now. [It's far from safe - as everything that happened during her absence highlighted - but...] We're not going to do that to you.
