There has been a lot of talk of people acting oddly. I wondered... Have any of you noticed anything peculiar with Elissa lately?

If it is just myself she doesn’t wish to speak to I could understand.

[What with recent events maybe he had created an awkward situation... ]

Has she seemed withdrawn or more peevish than usual with anyone else?

I'll continue with writing from here on out.. [Which was redundant to include since Haytham had eyes and could see that for himself]

I thought I heard someone walking by in the corridor.. but since you brought it up.... she has seemed a little off. I doubt it's just from getting used to her new position on board but.. [Hopefully it's not that trend that's been going around on other ships]

What have you witnessed for yourself?

[YEAH. AND I KNOW WHY YOU THOUGHT SHE MIGHT BE ACTING ODD AROUND YOU... least he thinks he knows XD]

I do not know her well enough to weigh in on this subject.

I haven't noticed anything different about her, honestly.

[She doesn't get what's wrong. Or does she?]

Sometimes a lady just likes to be by ones self, that's all.

[That works for him, Haytham switches to the written word as well.]

Would that I could put her behavior into more precise terms. When she has been out and about she is quick to take issue with even minor offenses but largely she seems to have secreted herself away in her room.

Ever so helpful for you to chime in on this. I don't know what I would have done without the wealth of wisdom you've just imparted.

[There is a deep sigh in which Haytham sets pen aside to rub his temple. Why did this man always... no, his son, always manage to get such a rise out of him? Maybe it was a glimpse of the future he was not meant to see...]

Forgive me. Apparently this ill temper is catching.

Have you looked at the journals? Some thing is affected other crews in an adverse way... I just wonder if this is connected.

[Or if she's ticked off at him for more personal reasons.]

Elissa has never shown a desire to hide away from the rest of the crew before. Do you really not find that odd?

It is clear now that I should not have bothered...

[I can be snarky too, when you draw it out of me. The only reason he had replied in the first place was to confirm that he'd received the message. It had been addressed to the entirety of those aboard...]

... I have noticed a pattern among the other journals. Everyone I have spoken to seems consumed with fear. None of them have been able to give me a specific cause for their concerns.

They are acting irrationally..

Controlled by fears they can not justify. Little wonder Elissa would lock herself away if this were also happening to her.

Irrational people can be very dangerous. Have you a moment? Perhaps we should speak more on this in person.

Not really. I guess I call it woman's intuition.

She's been snapping at me and doesn't seem to approve of the way the crew's being run.

Unless you know what it is she has chosen to brood about I fail to see how you can call it intuition.

We should hold a meeting to discuss that, but if it were concerns over the state of the ship one would think she could simply bring up her ideas.

Did she mention any specific concerns when she was snapping at you?

A lady just knows, of course. I won't say however if I generally know the reason or not as it might be something she wants to keep hush about.

No one would begrudge her a moment's peace, if that is all this is, I was just...

Concerned, there might be more to this than a simple rest. Others have mentioned members of their crews acting strangely, even going so far as to attack. I want to make certain her behavior is not connected to that.

It is possible that she could be inflicted with the same sickness as the others.

I haven’t really run into her...

[Which was unusual enough, considering how social she normally was. Distracted by his own quandaries, Ban hadn’t thought to question the change until Haytham brought it up. Now he was annoyed with himself for the oversight.]

I did try to contact her over the journals though.. and she just told me that she was busy and not to bother her.

I did mention changing the colors. She explosively disagreed.
[You didn't copy another's flag that was a big no no among pirates. They were Barbossa's, and with him gone to was their permission to use them. Harlock had to sink plenty of pirates for copying his own.]

That would be the quickest way.

How curious not to find Connor on deck when he arrived. Eventually the young man was spotted high up in the rigging but it took a small bit of searching, and a quick glance around with eagle vision, to find him up there. It was simple enough to walk to the main mast and scurry up the side of it. He spoke only when he stood upon the same level that his son did.]

You certainly chose a discrete meeting site.

I'm sure it must have occurred to you, that if things become as dangerous on this ship as they have on others you and I might be the last line of defense for the rest of the crew.

She was fond of Barbossa, though I've always failed to see why.

[No one would escape their vision up here. He's not sure how he felt about being grouped together with Haytham... but he had a point]

That could happen... but I also think that we should try to reason with anyone that gets afflicted first, before behaving rashly ourselves.
