Entry 001 - Written
[At first he'd thought he was dazed and hallucinating from the crash, but he's learned to assess his physical condition quite accurately and, as impossible as it seems, he seems to be quite whole and well. Just not where he was. As fanciful and strange as it seems, the simplest thing to do is accept as a fact that he's somehow been pulled into some sort of alternate world and work from there.
The entries in the journal purporting to explain the situation to newcomers are lacking in much of the necessary information he needs to move forward. On top of that, there is the strange voice offering home when it outright contradicts one of the welcome posts, a post that itself says not to respond to posts that seem anomalous. There's not enough in the book yet for him to judge whether that voice is an anomaly or not, but the shocked reactions suggest it is.
Therefore, he decides that the wisest course of action is to follow the welcome post's advice and find lodging, then to write an entry in the book himself.]
I am one of the "new arrivals." Given the situation, what I require is a position on an established crew and further information about this world and my place in it. I can offer the following skills at the following levels:
- close combat (hand to hand, knives, improvised weapons): A
- ranged combat (firearms): A
- handling of explosives: A
- situational awareness: A
- wilderness survival: A
- assessment and management of personnel: A
- strategy and tactics: A
Further clarification available on request.
[It is, in fact, only a small cross section of what he is capable of, and simplified at that, but it's better to withhold some information, considering he's unsure who exactly will be reading what he writes.]

Fighting wise, I don't really need to do much as I have magic, but I could also be prepared to sort that out for emergencies

[He's beginning to think he should write up some sort of primer, except he has no access to a computer and writing everything that needs to be written by hand will take up far too much of his time.]

Yeah, not like I'm actually carrying extra, considering food gets stale rather fast on a ship. I can use magic to make it last a bit longer, but not like ridiculously long.

[It's far, far lower than he's used to. Even in wilderness settings, he's used to relying on things like preservatives in his food.]

[It isn't even that he doesn't believe in what might get called "magic" by someone who doesn't know any better. However, from the rudimentary knowledge of Runes they've been able to piece together, things like varied technology levels shouldn't be a product that can be created with them.]

I question those statistics.

[One could say that it's what he's doing himself, but he tends to assume that certain things are universal, such as the basic laws of physics and similar concepts from other scientific fields. He's had to adjust his thinking to accept that information consists of basic particles the way that matter does, but he can't accept matter being created out of nothing.]

The only thing one can't explain is things they don't know. Like how exactly did one guy, if that is the case managed to bring all of us here? For all we know it could be a teleporter of some kind, transporting magic, or basically anything. You can't even judge by the date things look because not everything looks to be from the same time period.
[She is pretty much talking about the ships at that point. The insides can sometimes look nothing like one would think.]
But yes, I see the point it's not wise to judge when in a matter of fact, we have very little to go on and even then, how would one know it to be fact?

[It's simplest not to address her baseless theorizing and pick out what he can possibly investigate further in the future. The rest of her explanation can be discarded.]
It seems like the best course of action would be to find someone native to this place that claims to practice magic aside from our current opponent and see what explanation they can offer.
