Birthday List v2.0! [Voice/Text]

Hey, everybody, it's me, Hajime! I didn't do a birthday post last month because everybody was so busy with their visit to Isla Empieza. We were on Phantasia, so sorry we missed you all! We'll all need to get together again some other time.

Anyway, now that it's a new year, it's time for a new BIRTHDAY LIST! Lots of people on the old list went home, so it's super short now. Let's all work together to make it big again!

[She then copies down the names of people from old list that she knows haven't left (in actual chronological order this time!)]

He is! You described him perfectly! He should be one of the Grumpy Knights of the Cranky Table with Ragrumpy! They can go around scaring everybody with their angry faces.

[It was hard not to be amused at how exuberant she sounded over this. Even though they were making fun of someone else she didn't sound mean-spirited about it. It was hard not to get caught up in her child-like innocence]

Well it was your drawing that represented him so perfectly, so give yourself come credit. Grumpy knights, cranky table...? [She had this whole sort of order in her mind, already] There's another one? Whose this Ragrumpy guy?

They should go around with paper bags over their heads until they reach their targets.

And then be like RARRR LEAVE ME ALONE!

[She doesn't sound mean-spirited because she really isn't. Call it constructive teasing. Maybe they'll hear what she has to say and reexamine just how massive their auras of crankiness are.]

That's pretty much what Ragrumpy says to me all the time. He's on Onichika's crew, but I don't know much about him except that he's grumpy, he has a pretty music box that makes him even grumpier, and his eyes are two different colors! He was very festive for Christmas!

[Unintentionally.]

No one would see them coming. It would be perfect.

[Yeah well- not all of Ban's teasing could be considered in that light. Sure a lot of times what he said was all in good fun and other times he was vehement about it.]

[From her description, he had no idea who she was talking about but how many people had eyes that were two different colors?] .. but you don't listen to him when he does right? A person like that needs someone to try and break them out of that funk. [Speaking a touch from experience here] That music box must be more than a music box to him. It probably holds some kind of memories or sentiment that he's not going to open up about.

Thanks to that ship, a lot of us were festive for Christmas...

Ragrumpy was extra festive, though, since he has a red coat and white hair like Santa and red and green eyes. He's not very jolly, though, not at allll. I think you're right about the music box, too, which is why I'm gonna keep talking to him! I'm trying to find out about his hobbies right now, but he wants to talk about my superheroing instead!

[He doesn't actually WANT to talk about anything with her, but that's the topic he brought up, so that's what they're going to talk about!]

I'm surprised that anyone got him into that outfit. Did you have a hand it in to or was that someone else's doings? [He must have looked like such a dork] If I've learned anything in my field it's how the simplest things can hold the most significance to others. [That poor slub XD. You go pester him about his past.] Well- superheroing is an interest subject. Anyone could get distracted with that.

[He figures. This guy sounds like he'd rather isolate]

Well, it wasn't really a Santa outfit. I think he always dresses like that. I'll probably have to ask him about his coat and the music box later. Sometimes you have to be patient and squeeeeeze things outta people little by little!

[She has so many projects along those lines right now. Ragna is just the latest one.]

Either way he sounds like quite a character.

Why do I get the feeling you've done this sort of thing more than a few times?

[Ban had some secrets of his own, and ones he'd rather not reveal so he'd best try not to become one of those projects]

No, the whole squeezing information out of people thing... though in a way... same thing really.

[Getting people to open up, can lead to friendship]

Not much! Usually people just tell me things!

[It's just an effect she has on people. It hasn't happened as much here, though, but then she's run into some spectacularly prickly people here. Some really gloomy ones, too, but gloomy is much easier than prickly.]

I have lots and lots of friends back home.

I can see why they might be inclined to.

Really? Who do I remind you of? Are they your friend?

Yeah. They're a friend. There are some stark differences between you and him but you both have an unyielding optimistic attitude about life.. [And people. Ginji could be a bit naive about certain things but he believed in people a lot more than Ban did]

His name is Ginji Amano, my business partner and my best friend.

That's the best kind of attitude to have! Do you want the grumpy ghost pirate guy to bring him here or is it better for him to stay home?

The selfish answer would be "yes", but it probably would be best for him to stay where he belongs.

[Then a sigh]

Now if only I could find a way back...

Well, when we find all the shards, we'll figure something out. I know I'd like to see all my friends from back home, too, but they do have a planet to protect, after all!

It could be too late before then..

[He blurted out before he had time to think about what he was saying.]

Yeah this ... "planet protecting" stuff... you'll have to show me a demonstration of your powers sometime. You can't keep talking about them like that, and not show them off.

[Maybe the subject change would distract her]

I'm sure our crews will meet up! I've been meeting more and more people face to face lately!

Why do you have to hurry to get home?

[She's not as easy to distract as she sounds.]

Eh.... er.. that? [Oops. Well maybe he could still smooth this over] There's a friend's birthday I don't want to miss. [Which was technically true]

Oh, that's important! Are you planning the party?

You bet I am! [He sighed] .. but it's going to fall apart if I'm not there to see it through.

Don't worry about it! We don't know what time it'll be when we go back, so maybe you'll even get extra time!

[It sounded crazy, but she brought up an interesting point. If this place could merge realities into one, then maybe it could also alter time itself?! Why hadn’t he considered the thought before?]

Well.. I don’t want to bet on that. It’s a very important birthday...

[Having no way to test the time theory immediately, he was still going to have to try something t o get home]
