[Link has long been back on his schedule of stirring in the early hours before dawn.

And just when the sun is beginning to creep across the sky, the wind comes. Bustled and nearly knocked off his feet, he stares in awe as the petals it carried float gently onto the deck. There does not seem to be anything special about them...

He tears out his journal, nearly dropping it when he hears laughter lilting from the pages. He waits a moment before speaking.]

This is the Murderess. How farspread was that wind just now? Did it carry black petals as well?

I don't know, either. I mean...it could be whoever "she" is that Dog warned us about, maybe? What, with flower petals and a bit of a giggle to celebrate...more feminine than Dog is, that's for sure.

Yes, I am assuming that this is the stirring of the "she" Dog mentioned. What we do about it is really the question.

Did anyone catch what direction they came from? Maybe we could follow them back!

The wind blew from the east. Whether or not that is significant, we can only guess.

I imagine it would be! I mean, the petals had to come from somewhere, right?

Yes, but given that they all appeared in the same place at the same time, I would venture to guess that they did not "come" from anywhere in the way a ship comes and goes.

Well, except for the sky, maybe. And then the wind could have caught them or something? I don't know.

[Or they're magic, with is more likely, let's be honest. But Codi hasn't gotten to the point where her mind naturally jumps to that conclusion with any seriousness.]

Anyway, this is a pretty big place. If the wind was blowing from the east at every point, that's got to be significant, right? Maybe something is going on at the far eastern point of the ocean that caused it.

That is the best guess we can make for now, yes.

[Because convincing Dirk to go towards the source of the nasty breeze carrying black petals is going to be interesting.]
