How many ships have had people vanish?

Did anyone notice anything unusual before they disappeared?

[He shakes his head.]

Sorry. I'm not sure how to explain it.

It's better than outright hostility, at least.

[He can't really figure it out, giving it up after a moment with a shrug and a last blanket over the pile -- and then he stands, arms awkwardly crossed, and wonders how to manage this situation.]

[There's a pause before the reply comes -- but not long. It's not hard to draw the conclusion after reviewing everyone he fought that day.]

You were one of the men I fought who used [a scribbled out word here; he'd started to write "chakra"] magic. Were you water and earth?

Had you planned on going to bed so soon? Or did you just want to make sure everything would work?

[It hasn't stopped being awkward, he knows.]

No -- [He hadn't, not really, but it had just been easier to do something rather than stand awkwardly in the enclosed silence of the room.]

[Itachi nods.

Then, quietly, he holds his hand out again for Sasuke to take.]

[It's -- it's still weird, still incredibly weird, and he thinks it fervently to himself before reaching across the space to take Itachi's hand again.]

... were you planning to sleep? [It probably won't be too difficult to read through the journal while sitting under the blankets if Itachi does.]

I haven't been able to get much lately, due to the cold. [He doesn't like to admit it, but Sasuke should know.]
