It's pretty cool. To be on the most basic level, one of the top reasons I think it'll be a good name for a ship is due to the fact that ocean waves are just naturally occurring sinewaves.

Those are some other basic sound waves known as non-sinusoidal waveforms, which are basically waves that aren't pure sine waves. A pure sine consists of a single frequency, while non-sinusoidal waveforms contain multiple sine waves of different frequencies.
