Hello Pirates!

Today... I tried to write to a friend I haven't heard from in a few days. I can't seem to get in touch with him.

His name is Descry. Is he on anyone's crew?

I don't understand. I mean, either these journals can malfunction, or else he's somehow disappeared...

Uhm, so, any info would be great. Thanks!

[He's still fetching water barrels, but in the process of pulling it all with the help of a horse and cart. From time to time, Aya checks the journal and sees her entry. His replies may be spaced out, since he has to stop to write.]

The only ones who have a journal are those like us, so if he isn't here, then neither would his journal.

But maybe he's sick, or something?

But surely... he didn't figure out how to go home? He would've told everyone else, wouldn't he?

And at least he would have said goodbye.

But yeah! Maybe he's sick! I bet his crew are looking after him just fine!

If he's that sort of person, he might have. I've never heard of him.

Has anyone said something yet? [Don't mind his handwriting getting a bit more rushed than usual.]

Well, he was a very clever and sensible person, so...

*But even then, of course Selphie had only known him for little over a month*

I haven't heard anything yet.

*In her hammock, Selphie raises a brow at Aya's handwriting*

What are you doing?

[The next response comes another ten minutes later.]

Then let me know how that goes.

I'm getting water barrels for the ship stock. I'm about halfway back.

*During which time Selphie has been looking through her journal to see if Descry's name has come up anywhere*

I will!

*Selphie smiles at her journal - it is so nice of him to bother to reply when he's so busy, after all*

You need any help?

Only if you want. [He didn't want to seem like he couldn't pull his weight on the crew, but some company would be nice.]

Okay! Where are you? I'll come find you.

*Though Selphie might still choose to tease him about this later, if she feels like it*

[Well, that would be a bit easier. The next reply is another ten minutes later.]

I just started along the coastline. The road is a lot smoother, so we're going a lot faster than through the forest.

[That's not cool, Selphie. Wow.]

Alright! I'll see ya when I see ya!

*So Selphie gets herself off the ship and back on land, heading along the road that she assumed he was talking about. She runs some of the way, and walks some of it too, alternating until she came across him - that is, if she hadn't just gone and got herself completely lost*

[They were making good time, but there wasn't sign of Selphie after about fifteen minutes. It's a straight shot, so even he should have spotted her by now. So he checks up on her.]

Where are you?

Uhm... I don't actually know. I'm along the coast road somewhere...

*Uh oh... Thank goodness she actually remembered to bring her journal along with her. And so she starts to sketch a really crap picture of her surroundings, to see if Aya recognises it*

He's not on mine.

[If his voice sounds a bit strained, his breaths a little too loud - well, he's exercising.]

Uhm.. Okay.. Thanks anyway...

*She's trying to be polite but she's not really sure what he's up to...*

[Seeing him really wouldn't be much better - but then, sounds do tickle the imagination, don't they?]

Whose crew was he... on? [Huff puff.] They should know... right?

Well, that's part of the problem - I just don't know who he was sailing with.

*Selphie clears her throat - she's blushing slightly now*

Uhm, maybe we should talk later...when you're less...busy?

Nah... I'm just about... done.

[And he's silent for a moment, catching his breath.]

No offense, but if he was keeping secrets like that, are you sure he was your friend?

*Oh dear, now she's quite red, and really unsure of what to say next. Though she might stammer at first, Selphie seems pretty certain*

W-well...you see... It just didn't come up. That's all. It wasn't a secret. We just never spoke about it.

Well, if he doesn't want to be found, he doesn't want to be found.

[Or he's dead. Since that lovely Scurvey Dog entry, Rin is taking things a little more seriously. But that doesn't mean he'd bring it up with her.

A last deep breath as he stretches his back and neck a bit, and then he relaxes with a sigh.]

He probably has his reasons.

But - listen, okay? It's not like he's just decided that he hates me, or something like that. It's that he's seriously uncontactable. And that's weird. Because... he's not usually uncontactable. So if there's reasons, then it's not my fault, you know.

*She slows down, and sighs a little, but it's not as relaxing as his*

Sorry. I just - I have a feeling that it's not just that he doesn't wanna talk to me. I know that that feels like, and it's different.

What do they look like?

[There's a sigh to start with. Looks like he's going to be the one to have to break it to her. Descry had never mentioned befriending anyone else here but who else had a weird name like that?]

He was on the Larrikin Deuce, last I saw him... but he's gone now.

[There wasn't much to be said about it. First the captain disappeared, then Descry]

They hadn't used the Nav to leave.. [Or Elissa couldn't have used it for her roundtrip visit] .. and there's no indication that anything nefarious happened to them. They just disappeared. I'm sure that he's no longer here though....

Maybe he's back where he belongs.

I think you took a wrong turn... [How he doesn't know...] Go back the way you came.

!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!!!

*That's all she writes before turning to sprint off in the other direction, hoping to catch up with him soon*

Uhm...well...you see.. We never actually met. We just talked a lot over the journal.

*And she realises how silly that sounds*
