Happy New Year, I suppose. It is not very happy for this Meep even if it is, indeed, new. I'm sure you haven't noticed much in the way of parties or festivals or even fireworks. I have only noticed my poor Meep hands which have tended my Mistress these long days. For those who aren't suffering and enduring their most treasured person's long illness, it is the year of the Sapphire. It is considered an unlucky year, generally speaking, and so rarely celebrated. Or if it is, with tones of somber reflection.

I hope your reflections are less somber than my own and your journal pages undamp with tears. I do believe otherwise that something is stirring. Something is always stirring. With Hawtrey that demon. That devil. And my poor Mistress laid up as she is all asleep and far away. Oh what am I do to do? My gut says it is unlucky and dangerous indeed but fortunately you are not without guidance. Not from me. Mistress used to say I couldn't lead a flea off a dog and I believe her. So now I must merely wait.
