Out of curiosity, has anybody figured out a...I don't know, an antidote or something to protect people from losing their damn minds every other month? By now I've seen enough bizarre behavior, it'd be nice to find some kind of immunity to that.

...not that we can predict when it happens.

Which reminds me. Ace, you ever send Luffy something like that again and I'll come over there next. You don't want me to come over there.

[SOMETIME LATER... Because he didn't bother responding to the actual journal entry.

Instead he nearly runs into Zoro while actively trying not to run into him as he slips from the men's cabin into the galley.

But of course luck is never on his side, and also the ship isn't big enough for that shit. So he just pulls up short a tad awkwardly, scowl firmly in place. And then throws a question at him seemingly out of nowhere.]

You get any decent answers?

[It's not entirely true, but like he's going to admit that. He does unclench, though, the tension fading from his shoulders and...well, everywhere really, as he leans back against the wall and absently reaches for his ever-present cigarette so he can stub it out.]

I'm not having much luck with this whole 'other shit controlling me' thing. [Frowns slightly.] That whole day, I was like—backwards. That ain't me, I wouldn't spout bullshit like that to you or Luffy and looking back it's like I didn't have control over whatever the fuck I was feeling and I don't like that. It's shitty and weird.

The candy thing was more...one and done. Didn't feel as lasting, and it wasn't just me, so it was hard to get too pissy over it, I guess. Wasn't as manipulative.

You already know that it happens monthly, so you should know to be prepared. It seems that the majority of these "curses" occur around holidays, too. They're not at all hard to predict.

If the nature of what causes these ailments were truly understood, a ward could be made. But without knowing what brings on such curses it is hard to protect against.

However, there may be a way to ward against what has already transpired, in the event that it happens again. But knowing how effective such a thing would be is difficult to guess.

If there was something like that, I would be quite interested in finding it, but as far as we know there is nothing like that.
