006 ♦ Open (Shepherd) -> Voice
[action - open to crewmates]
Somehow, some way, Rikka had gotten to sleep. She'd been having fitful rest, at best, the last few nights. Having stolen a pillow each from Mana and Alice's rooms and brought them to her own as soon as she could move, it was... a little better. But not much. She was getting maybe two hours of sleep instead of one. Tonight was beginning to look like it might even be three... but she starts to moan and turn in her sleep.
It had been such a nice day, too... and then things had happened, and then Alice was frozen inside a prison of ice: her ice. She turned to Mana and was greeted with an almost-feral need to hurt from her best friend. And Rikka couldn't do anything but shrink into herself and pray to be released from the nightmare.
A gasp and a small yelp, as she's shocked awake. Breathing hard, she looks around; Raquel stirs faintly before, with a worried look, he turns away, shaking a little. She presses a hand to her heart, willing it to calm down. If this was going to happen every night, they were going to have problems. Wiping the cold sweat from her face, she knows she can't stay here right now. Not alone. Checking her dressing gown, she opens her door and walks into the twilight, the breeze soothing her just a little.
But against her better judgment... she has to know. Rikka's made a point not to visit the brig for the last six days, because she knows what she's likely to do. But... after six nights of this, she can't take it any more. Shuffling with purposeful steps, she opens the door.
And freezes. Because there's something missing that should be here.
"Mana...? Alice...?" Her voice is soft, and cracking already. She frantically starts to look around the room, but there's nowhere else they could have gone. The doors are locked, and there's no sign of Gaius either. And she's not dead, so they didn't escape well enough to finish what they'd started. Which meant... what? If they weren't here, and they hadn't escaped...
No. This had to be some kind of punishment. The universe had watched her shoot down her teammates, and as a just reward for a little girl that betrays the trust of her friends, she doesn't get them anymore. That's the logic in her mind, and there's nothing to disprove it. Falling onto her knees, she can't get herself to move past the sticking point that they're gone. The two most important people in her life, up in smoke. "No... no, no, nonono... NOOOOOO!"
Standing up sharply, ignoring the blossoming headache from the sudden shift, she races back to her room and slams her journal open, barely waiting to set up a filter to the rest of the ship only before she shrieks. If this got out, they were sunk. Possibly literally. "Mana and Alice are gone! I... help me find them! Do something-!" Not that her scream hadn't been heard by half the ship at three in the morning, but she needed an answer, now.

It's several minutes later, after she's realized the horrible truth, that she turns the journal to a new page and removes the lock. It was something she could confirm, now. Had to confirm, because this didn't need to happen to anyone else. "This is Rikka, aboard Shepherd. Several members of our crew... the possessed among them are gone, without a trace. My best friends, Mana and Alice... Gaius... Hubert. All of them are gone."
Her voice is dead. The words are coming out, but there's no emotion to them. She doesn't care, beyond the illusion of having a duty to make sure the others were alert. But Rikka... she's lost everything that was important to her. That duty was all she had left to cling to for now.
"In the Captain's absence, Colonel Curtiss has assumed command of the ship. I'm... still recovering, so I'm not much good for anything. I hope everyone else's people are safe. In the meantime, we're preparing ourselves for the attack on the fortress in a little over a week's time. Until then, I'll be... ah, what does it matter?" A hollow laugh. "Nobody's going to be looking for me. Nobody needs anything from me. So I'll just be going now. Good night, everyone."
She closes the book lightly, hugging it to her chest before throwing it against the cabin wall, picking it back up after a moment and glaring at it before tucking it under her arm and returning to her room. All the while, there's one strong thought in her head: 'I will get them back. I'll save them, and they'll never be hurt again. Whatever the cost.' There's a black feeling, a need to hurt and destroy that's so unlike her, and yet it fits her black mood just fine. She's not sure if she wants to go break something, or just lie on her bed and never move. Tired as she is now, it's sounding like the latter; she heads back to her room, puts her head on her pillow, hugs Mana's pillow for dear life, and tries to motivate herself to cry. But the tears aren't coming anymore, and she's not sure what that means.
