It seems like this world likes to go back and forth between celebrations and some form of drama.

[She gives a tired sounding sigh]

It is starting to make me wary when a celebration comes around, especially since something strange usually happens during them as well. Needless to say I am not looking forward to this Valentine's festival that is coming up.

[Never mind that she wasn't too thrilled about the holiday when she heard what it was about, but that's beside the point.]

Anyway, I have not been here for a year yet and I have seen several celebrations that were unfamiliar to me. For those who have been here for a year or so, are there anymore festivals after this one?

[So that she can brace herself for them.

Trust me, it's always like that. Just when you think you're finally in for some smooth sailing there's drama all of a sudden. It's practically guaranteed. Last year there were little candy hearts that made you do things. Like kissing people. Or hurting them. It was weird.

There are always more festivals. They never stop happening.

And I believe someone told me about those candies before... I will be sure to avoid them like the plague if they appear this year.

I'm not surprised. They were everywhere last year. Popped up on all the ships and islands, and for some reason you couldn't resist eating them. Like, you had this weird urge to pop one in your mouth even though they taste like colored chalk.

I do not see the appeal of eating something that would taste like chalk.

Exactly. There's no appeal in it at all, which is why the urge to eat them is so insidious. It's like craving peanuts when you have a fuckin' peanut allergy.

That is an unpleasant thought.

Yeah, makes you wonder what they have in store for us this year. I wish they would do chocolates instead of heart candies. At least those would taste better.

I do not think their taste would make any difference to me.

I was never really too fond of sweets.

Besides, no matter how good something tastes, it still does not make up for the fact that it will make you do thing you normally would not do.

Yeah, but asking them not to leave dangerous sweets around is like asking the ICP to write a song that doesn't blow giant heinous dick. It isn't possible. If you have no choice but to consume psychotropic candy, it might as well taste like chocolate instead of chalk.

Different cultures will have from our perspective foreign events they choose to honor. Hell even the same holiday will vary place to place.

There was a flower festival in Himmelen, it was fine provided you didn't drink the hallucinogenic wine. With their winters so harsh I can see them having a little to much fun celebrating spring.

A flower festival hm? [She might actually be interested in that. Though she make a note to avoid the wine.]

That makes sense. I grew up in a land where it snowed most of the year. There was always a big celebration when spring finally came about. Minus the wine of course.
