Not to sound paranoid or anything but the last magically enchanted diary I wrote in that could write back tried to kill me so I'm just a bit skeptic.

But, I suppose this is as good a place as any to ask, where exactly am I?

How does a diary try to kill you? How does it get enchanted in the first place? Wait, on second thought, I'm not sure I want to know.

Anyway... this place is a different world from the places we're all from. We're here to sail the seas and look for pieces of a jewel of some kind, as I understand it, and that may somehow be able to send up home.

I understand there's a lot of uncertainty in that explanation, but it's what we've got.
