Okay.
[Deep breath. It's not that scary to talk to a book. Even if it's really weird and she hates this and wants to go home. She was supposed to actually have some time off. Be a slightly normal teenager.
That was the deal.
Save the world, get a week off.
Was it really that hard?!
So, early afternoon on the eleventh, after some exploring, she's sitting with her journal, posing her question.]
I jus' need t' ask y'all somethin'.
[Because this is important. Seriously important.]
Has anyone seen pyramids? Here. They might be stone or maybe metal. I just need t' know if there are any.
[If there are, maybe Apocalypse is still trapped, pulling them here to get his 'keys' again. To open whatever doors there are in this world.
Because that's who she suspects this 'Davy Jones' is. Just another name of Apocalypse for another place in space and time.
The last part, she says to herself, more as an after note. She doesn't quite know how these things work yet.]
Cracks of time, huh? Great. Really.

[Voice]
I hear one of these islands has an inverted pyramid or somethin’. Not sure it’s what you’re lookin’ for though.
[Voice]
[The voice sounds... familiar but different. Enough that she's careful, which might seep a little into her voice.]
Well. That don' sound right.
[And if it didn't sound right? Might mean there was something about it to be checked out.]
Y'know where that is?
[Voice]
[there is a pause. He’s still being careful. Look at these two, being all cautious and shit.]
Ya new ‘round here, kid?
[Voice]
[She can hear the professor in her head. Or, rather, just see his look. Language. But this called for it. Besides, none of the younger kids were here. She wasn't setting a bad example.
The question makes her sigh a bit, frustrated at the whole thing.]
Yeah. Jus' woke up here yesterday.
[Voice]
[It’s not really a normal question after all.]
I’d say welcome, but getting kidnapped by some sea ghost isn’t exactly a good thing.
[Voice]
[She really didn't want to be. Really, really didn't. But it seemed pretty possible.]
[Voice]
[Voice]
So I ain' countin' it out yet.
[Voice]
Either way, I’ll keep an eye out for teleportin’ pyramides. Wouldn’t be the strangest thing ‘round here.
Gotta name, kid?
[Voice]
[Because with Wanda's powers and Jean's and Xavier's... Who knows what Apocalypse could do. What he could create.
If he's here, she has to find him. If she finds him... Whatever it takes. That's what she knows she has to do. Whatever it takes to stop him.]
'M Rogue.
[Voice]
[last time he heard from her she’d... lost her powers. Threw them away. It was what she wanted, she said. He left shortly after. Been got for a few years in hiding. Now he’s here...]
Rogue? [It’s not a question of ‘what kind of name is that?’ But more a ‘Are you kidding me right now, is it true’ tone.]
[Voice]
No.
She is not letting herself hope. She's not letting her hear that kind of recognition in his voice. Like he knows her. Like he's said her name before. Because if she hopes, she's going to be disappointed. If she lets herself think maybe she's not alone, then being alone's going to be that much worse.]
That's what I said.
[But it's not as light as she wants. Not quite a shrug and a laugh like she tried for. It's more careful -- fragile hope taking a few faltering steps.]
[Voice]
[He still sounds cautious...]
It’s Logan...
[Voice]
He sounds a little different, but that might be the weird book thing. People sound different on the phone than just talking to them, so. Whatever. It's close enough that she actually believes him. Actually lets herself have that.]
Oh my God. Logan.
[It's pure relief.]
[Voice]
Good to hear from ya, kid. Thought the voice sounded familiar.
You all right? ‘The hell I miss that you’re going on about pyramids? [Here’s the deciding factor...]
[Voice]
[She's definitely smiling. Because it's too much of a relief.
But then--]
...What? You-- [Logan was there. Logan was the one who carried her out of the inner chamber, told her not to worry about anything. Who saw, with her, the wreckage Apocalypse had made of the X-men and Acolytes. Who'd put her under SHIELD's protection during the final battle until the time was right.
She has to find sounding upset. Sounding uncertain. Sounding scared.] You don' remember?
[Voice]
Time’s a bit different ‘round here. Cracks of time and all. Been a while since I saw ya. Jean’s here too. Alive. [Her reaction to THAT would tell him a lot actually.]
[Voice]
Logan's here.
So what if he doesn't remember Apocalypse?
And Jean--]
'Course Miss Perfect's here too. [She tries for sarcastic, but... She's glad for it, and it comes across. Because Jean's calm and in control. And smart as Hell.]
[Voice]
[He's sounding more cautious again]
This might sound strange but... humor me. How's the Professor? [Dead. He's dead. They'd lost him. Jean took him and there was jack all he could do about it. The one man that managed to help him pull his own head out of his ass... and he could only lay there and watch Jean rip him apart. If she's of his future, she'd be older, but shouldn't have her powers, and the Professor, as far as he knows, should be dead.]
[Voice]
[That gets a sigh. Because thinking about what happened and the aftermath is hard, seeing the professor actually look human. After seeing how terrible his powers could be.]
He's doin' better. That last fight took a lot outta everyone.
Think we're all still lickin' our wounds a bit.
[Voice]
I think we got a... what’d they call it... ah timeline difference here. Professor Xavier is... gone. So’s Scott. So’s Jean. [And you haven’t got your powers, kiddo...]
[He sounds a bit heavy at this. It’s not that he’s not glad to hear her, any Rogue, really. But... he’s betting he doesn’t know this one.]
[Voice]
What'd y' mean "gone"?
[But she knows. It's in every word. She knows exactly what he means. But she can't accept that. Not without hearing it.]
[Voice]
[After a bit he shook his head, even if she can't see.]
Don't worry about it. What's important is they're still there for ya. If I've got it right, time's stopped back home. What ever's goin' on there for ya will still be there when ya get back.
[He can't help but be a bit disappointed. Not in her o course, but in this world in general]
[Voice]
What do they do without them? How're they supposed to be the X-men without them? Without the professor to guide them, Scott to lead them, and Jean to temper Scott. It doesn't seem possible.
And yet... The professor had warned them that darker days were coming.
Was that what he meant?]
Y-yeah... An' maybe that means it can be stopped. That it doesn' have t' happen.
[She has to hope. She has to believe someone can stop it. Because they need them.]
[Voice]
Not sure it works that way.
Look, this might be easier face to face. You at Empieza at the moment? I can port over and meet ya there, if you want.
